Carli Lloyd and Jenny Taft Team Up for ‘Whatever It Takes,’ a New Weekly Sports and Life Podcast
Two of the most familiar faces in American soccer coverage are taking their friendship to the podcast feed. iHeartPodcasts announced on September 10 the debut of “Whatever It Takes with Carli Lloyd and Jenny Taft,” a weekly sports and culture series joining the iHeart Soccer Network, with new episodes every Thursday.
Lloyd, a two-time World Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist and 2025 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, first crossed paths with Taft, FOX Sports’ premier sideline reporter and studio host, when Taft covered the 2015 Women’s World Cup. The podcast pairs their on-field and on-camera experience with candid conversation about the week in sports, family, motherhood and the ever-evolving definition of greatness.
“Jenny and I have developed a great friendship over the years, and I’m thrilled to team up with her and iHeartPodcasts on this new venture,” Lloyd said. “‘Whatever It Takes’ is a space where we can share our experiences, learn from incredible guests and talk openly about the challenges and triumphs that come with pursuing your goals both on and off the field.”
In the premiere episode, the two hosts tell the story behind the show’s creation, look back on World Cups past and present, and open up about balancing career, family and motherhood. Guests across the series include former players and analysts Stu Holden and Alexi Lalas. “Carli and Jenny are legends in their respective fields, but what makes them truly special is that they are also bold, relatable voices people genuinely want to hear from,” said Leo Gomez, head of the iHeart Soccer Network. The show is distributed by iHeartPodcasts, with video episodes on iHeart and YouTube.

Billy Porter Opens a Faith-and-Identity Conversation Series as First Guest of ‘This Is Our Story’
A new monthly conversation series is making room for the stories people are rarely asked to tell in full. “This Is Our Story,” hosted by Seth Pinnock — founder of the UK charity Symphony Co. — launched October 20 from Symphony Co. and In Details Studios, exploring culture, faith, sexuality, identity and the life-shaping stories in between.
The inaugural guest sets the tone: Billy Porter, the Emmy, Grammy and three-time Tony Award winner, sits down with Pinnock for an open conversation about growing up in the Pentecostal church, enduring bullying, and the long road through faith, healing and forgiveness.
Porter’s reflections anchor the episode. “Forgiveness is for me,” he says in the conversation. “It’s not forgive and forget. It’s forgive and move forward.” It is the kind of unguarded exchange the series is built to hold — personal history examined without spectacle, by a host whose own work through Symphony Co. centers community and young people’s stories.
As a monthly series, “This Is Our Story” is positioned as a slow conversation in a fast medium: one guest, one story, and the space to tell it properly. With Porter as its first voice, it opens with a story that moves from the church pews of Pittsburgh to the highest stages in entertainment — and finds healing, not bitterness, at the center of it.
That is precisely the ground Pinnock wants the series to hold. The conversations are structured around the moments that shape a life rather than the highlights that sell one, and Porter’s episode — part testimony, part masterclass in survival — gives the young series an unmistakable statement of intent from its very first installment.
