“One of the most recognized names in country music” (GRAMMY.com), HARDY returns with four new songs on SIDES.

SIDES breaks down and expands upon the four genres found within HARDY’s latest release, the 8-minute behemoth, “Man In The Box.” From masterful singer-songwriter acoustics to bravado-filled soul, charged-up country to buzzsaw grunge, each song on SIDES reflects the unlimited breadth and scope of HARDY’s “lyrical genius” (American Songwriter). The four-song collection proves how “musical diversity comes natural to HARDY” (Revolver), who “isn’t afraid to find the gray” (TIME) within music’s rulebook.

ABOUT HARDY

HARDY is “a high concept craftsman” (The New Yorker), producing “some of the most intriguing music to emerge from Nashville in years” (SPIN). Owning the intersection of country and rock, his latest album COUNTRY! COUNTRY! doubles down – 20 hard-charged originals that are “like much of HARDY’s work, surprising…For HARDY, part of the point is to keep you guessing” (Rolling Stone). Alternative Press declares him “the newest ambassador of the provocative crossover between two seemingly contradicting camps: trailer-park honky-tonk and head-thrashing metal.” COUNTRY! COUNTRY! adds to over 8 BILLION career streams, followed by current Top 20 radio single “McArthur,” a generation-spanning feat of storytelling, helmed, and written by HARDY alongside Tim McGraw, Eric Church, and Morgan Wallen.

The pride of Philadelphia, Mississippi has earned his reputation as “a promising purveyor of keeping the spirit of classic heavy Southern rock alive” (American Songwriter), “capable of writing the big hits for radio, obstinate enough to do something completely unexpected, and savvy enough to find the throughline for it all” (Rolling Stone). A 5X ACM award winner, 2X CMA award winner, 3X CMA Triple Play award recipient, 3X AIMP Songwriter of the Year winner, and the 2022 BMI Country Songwriter of the Year – HARDY is “one of Nashville’s most prolific, versatile voices, a songwriter and artist who can put forth a twangy country anthem as easily as a bone-rattling rock song.” (Billboard).

HARDY has written 22 #1 singles globally among hundreds of career cuts on artists like Morgan Wallen, Ella Langley, Blake Shelton, Carrie Underwood, Kenny Chesney, Dierks Bentley, Florida Georgia Line, and more. He counts 6 #1s of his own: “Favorite Country Song,” 3X Platinum “TRUCK BED,” 3X Platinum award-winning duet “wait in the truck” feat. Lainey Wilson, 4X Platinum chart topper “ONE BEER” feat. Lauren Alaina + Devin Dawson, Platinum Dierks Bentley + BRELAND collaboration “Beers On Me” and rock radio #1, “JACK.” HARDY’s headlining THE COUNTRY! COUNTRY! TOUR! just wrapped a nationwide run, entertaining 400,000 fans in arenas and amphitheaters across North America.

ABOUT ORVILLE PECK

Orville Peck’s Mule is a sweeping, chronological epic that narrativizes the year 2023—or, as Orville knows it, the year he “hit rock bottom before finally getting sober.” It’s January of that year, and Orville’s just returned home from a trip with his partner that culminated in their breakup. Single and alone in Los Angeles, as we find him on “Big ‘Ol House,” Orville gives in to his destructive impulses: drinking, partying, drugging. The light at the end of the tunnel seems far in the distance. Where Pony, Bronco, and Stampede wove together bits and pieces of Orville’s life and learnings, Mule takes a linear (though not always straight) path through the hardest year of the artist’s life. Its title (also the album’s closing track) gets its name from a simple place of inspiration and comparison: “To me, the image of a mule is somehow misunderstood,” Orville says. “A mule is the offspring of a horse and a donkey bred specifically for work. Mules cannot reproduce. They are trapped between two worlds, maybe always trying to figure out which one they belong to. They are known allegorically for being hard-working, stubborn, a burden, resilient. I think that it is hard to be a mule… but I’m also glad that I am one.” Throughout Mule, listeners will hear high highs and low lows. “They’re always knocking at the door / You get a bed but you use the floor / They watch you take the pills / No thrills / No TV after 9,” he sings on “Rehab Blues.” But “I didn’t leave sober,” he says. “I left thinking that now at least I had control of my drinking and that I wasn’t an alcoholic, that I was smarter than that, that I was better than other people that had gone to rehab—or at least that I was different. So I went straight back to partying and being insane.” That story gets told in all its messy glory (and embarrassment) on “Ring The Bell.” Rock bottom comes one night in downtown New York, chronicled in “The Fall.” Later, “Cowboy Heart” starts “with me walking down Hollywood Boulevard with seemingly everything I ever wanted in life: a big career, fans that love to buy my music, money for the first time in my life, a home, a car, and so much more,” he says. “But then I realize I’ve never been more lost.” On the 11 o’clock number, “War Of The Worlds,” a vocal stacked Orville—clearheaded, sober, and calm—tackles the duality of man versus artist once more. The future is bright. In its 13-song journey, Mule further cements Orville Peck’s singular lock on songwriting, storytelling, and song-making in this industry. Its depths reward multiple revisitations; its melodies and harmonies will continue to surprise and amaze with each repeated listen. Mule might find Orville, at times, at his lowest, but it finds him not only picking up the pieces, but a finding a better Orville along the way.

ABOUT ABBIE CALLAHAN

Raised Catholic in Iowa City, Abbie’s lifelong curiosity for the unseen now drives her playful songwriting, leading her to country music almost by accident as she filled cover sets at Nashville honkytonks. Her superpower is vulnerable whimsy: sharp, self-deprecating, drawn to change, and unapologetically herself 24/7.
