Kany García Takes ‘Puerta Abierta’ to Las Vegas: Two Latin Grammy Nominations and a Live Performance

Kany García’s most personal album is now her most decorated of the year. The Puerto Rican singer-songwriter has earned two nominations at the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards: Best Traditional Pop Album for Puerta Abierta and Best Pop Song for “A La Niña Que Fui.” On November 12, she will also perform live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, putting her in the rare position of singing on the same night she competes.

Puerta Abierta, released April 9, is exactly what its title promises: an open door back to where she comes from. García has described the album as a return to her roots, her memories and the people who made her. “A La Niña Que Fui” speaks directly to the girl she was growing up in Puerto Rico, “Tierra Mía” takes up cultural preservation on the island, and across eleven tracks she moves from norteño to bachata, testing how far her songwriting can travel without losing its center.

The album is also powering the biggest tour of her career. The Puerta Abierta Tour spans 76 confirmed dates across Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Europe and beyond, promoted by Live Nation. The U.S. leg ran through September and early October, hitting San Antonio, Houston, Chicago, Miami and Orlando, and the whole run closes December 4 in San Juan, in front of her hometown crowd.

That is the arc of García’s 2026: an album about going home, performed everywhere, and now recognized by the Latin Recording Academy in the categories that reward exactly what she does best: traditional pop craft and songwriting with a pulse. Her shows this fall have leaned into that intimacy, acoustic arrangements, an accordion and a guitar beside her, and audiences singing every word back.

On November 12, the door swings toward Las Vegas. Win or lose, García walks into the Latin Grammys with a nominated album, a nominated song, a performance slot and a 76-date tour behind her, proof that the most honest record of her career is also connecting the widest.

Xavi Earns His First Latin Grammy Nominations With ‘Dosis,’ Plus a Performance Slot in Las Vegas

The face of romantic tumbados just got his first Latin Grammy invitations. Xavi, the Phoenix-born singer-songwriter who helped redefine corridos for a new generation, has earned the first two Latin Grammy nominations of his career: Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for Dosis and Best Regional Song for “No Capea,” his collaboration with Grupo Frontera. On November 12, he will also perform at the 27th Annual Latin Grammy Awards at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Dosis, his nineteen-track sophomore album released in May through Interscope Records, is the bigger swing. After breaking through with the viral acoustic hit “La Víctima” and the follow-up smash “La Diabla,” and establishing himself with his debut album Next, Xavi used Dosis to widen the frame, keeping the requinto-led, guitar-first heart of his tumbado romántico style while pushing its production and songwriting into new territory. “No Capea,” which he co-wrote, pairs him with Grupo Frontera, one of the genre’s biggest groups, and has become a streaming-era anthem of its own.

“To see Dosis and ‘No Capea’ celebrated alongside artists I admire is a dream come true,” Xavi said when the nominations were announced. “I dedicate these nominations to my grandfather, who first introduced me to music. Making him proud means everything.” It is a fitting note for an artist who began composing as a teenager in Phoenix and built his audience one phone-recorded song at a time.

The live show has kept pace with the records. His X tour has been filling arenas across Mexico, and in September he joined Natanael Cano on stage in Guadalajara, a meeting of the two artists most responsible for the corridos tumbados era.

First nominations are a before-and-after moment in any career. Xavi arrives in Las Vegas with two of them, a performance slot on the telecast and a sophomore album the Academy itself has certified as one of the year’s essential Mexican music records. The next chapter starts November 12.
