In its final tune-up before its regular-season opener the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team put out a dominant display in a 89-60 win over cross-town rival Hawaii Pacific Sunday at the Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

UH led by double-digits for the majority of the game and used a pair of huge runs in each half to blow past the Sharks. Jaden Matingou led five Rainbow Warriors in double-digits with 19 points, hitting his first five shots, before finishing 7-of-8 from the floor, while adding three rebounds and two assists.

Chance Trujillo poured in 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from three-point land. Frontcourt players Zack Davidson (15 points) and Bol Dengdit (14 points) shot a combined 12-of-19 from the field, while freshman guard Tiger Cuff chipped in 12 points on four three-pointers.

The 'Bows shot a sizzling 14-of-24 (58 percent) from three-point territory to help fuel the win while nailing 11-of-12 free throws. The 'Bows shot 60 percent overall from the field.

HPU got off to a strong start, scoring 10 of the game's first 15 points in the opening minutes. But UH ramped it up on both ends of the court to take control. The 'Bows went on a 20-3 run over next eight minutes, including 10 unanswered points, to take a 25-13 lead. UH held the Sharks scoreless for more than five minutes and would maintain that double-digit lead, taking a 46-34 edge into the locker room. UH shot 60 percent in the first frame.

It was an 11-point game five minutes into the second half, but again UH used an extensive run to put the game out reach. A Tiger Cuff three-pointer followed up by an and-one fast-break layup by Matingou provided the spring board for 20 unanswered points by the 'Bows. UH took a 74-45 lead and never looked back.

The Rainbow Warriors now gear up for its regular-season opener when it hosts Seattle on Monday, Nov. 2. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at Bankoh Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center.
