SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Chaminade University women's volleyball team on Saturday defeated Dominican University of California at the Conlon Center, 25-16, 25-21, 25-16.

Tabby Allen (Leander, Texas/Rouse) put down a match-high 16 kills for the Silverswords, who salvaged the final match of their three-match mainland road swing.

Reina Krueger (Fort Collins, Colo./Liberty Commons) and Mykelle Brainard (Carlsbad, Calif./Pacific Ridge), in her first career start, each added seven kills for the Silverswords, who got back to.500 at 12-12 and 6-8 in the Pacific West Conference.

Lilinoe Paschoal (Paukukalo, Maui, Hawai'i/Baldwin) tallied her 13th double-double of the season with 16 assists and a career-high 20 digs while Kyra Pagud (Honolulu/Moanalua) posted 10 digs.

Alexis Schwartz led the Penguins (4-18, 1-13 PacWest) with eight kills.

The 'Swords never trailed in the first set, rolling to the convincing win. Allen and Brainard combined for nine of the team's 15 kills in the frame.

In a competitive second set, a 3-0 run broke a 19-all deadline, thanks to a kill from Malena Mihalik (Santa Fe, Argentina/San Eugenio) and a kill and block from Brainard.

Nursing a 15-13 edge, the 'Swords went on a 10-3 surge to close out the match.

Chaminade hit.235 for the match with 47 kills, 39 assists, 68 digs, eight aces and two blocks. Dominican was held to a.159 hitting clip with 26 kills, 22 assists, 46 digs, three aces and seven blocks.

The Silverswords return to McCabe Gymnasium for their season-ending four-match home stand starting Thursday against defending PacWest champion and nationally-ranked Point Loma. The match will have a later start time of 7:30 p.m. because of the Hoops in Hawai'i Men's Tip-Off Classic basketball tournament also being played at McCabe.

The Machine in Powder Springs: McEachern Rises to No. 8 in the Nation

Some programs rebuild. McEachern just reloads.

The Indians from Powder Springs have opened the season 8-0 and climbed to No. 8 in the MaxPreps national Top 25, powered by a Thursday doubleheader statement that turned heads well beyond Georgia. McEachern beat previously unbeaten Moody (Ala.) 26-7 in an interstate showdown, then knocked off in-state power Blessed Trinity (Roswell) 28-6 on the same night.

Junior quarterback Ava George was surgical across the two wins, completing 26 of 35 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, George has completed 75 percent of her passes — and she is a problem on the other side of the ball, too, with four interceptions on defense.

Earlier this month, McEachern won the season’s most anticipated early matchup, beating Sequoyah 21-12 on Oct. 14 in a game where both teams entered 5-0. The Indians’ defense came up with two interceptions to protect the perfect record.

The standard in Powder Springs is not a hot start. It is history. McEachern is 100-6 since 2022, a run that includes a 28-0 state championship campaign in 2024 and a state runner-up finish in 2025. Six losses in five seasons is not a typo — it is a culture.

With the GHSA state tournament set to open Nov. 18 and the finals on Dec. 8 in Atlanta, the question around Georgia flag football is the same one it has been for years: can anybody slow down the machine when it matters most? Moody arrived unbeaten and left with a 19-point loss. Blessed Trinity is a proven power and managed six points.

The Indians have made their case as Georgia’s team to beat — and one of the best teams in America, at any level of the flag game.
