Women’s Volleyball Win Streak Hits 10 with Sweep of UNLV

The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team's penchant for closing out sets was again on full display on Saturday as the Rainbow Wahine swept UNLV for a second straight night to extend its winning streak to 10.

Playing before the largest crowd of the season at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center, the Rainbow Wahine rallied late in the first and third sets and dominated the second in the 25-21, 25-11, 25-23 victory.

UH improved to 18-3 overall and 10-0 in Mountain West play in its best start to a conference season since going 16-0 in the Big West in 2015. UH has won its last 26 sets at home, and the 10-match winning streak overall is the longest since a 12-game run in 2022.

Sophomore outside hitter Cha'lei Reid led the Hawai'i attack with a match-high 15 kills while hitting an efficient.357. Senior outside hitter Panna Ratkai added 13 kills and nine digs, while middle blocker Miliana Sylvester put down 10 kills on.304 hitting.

Setter Adrianna Arquette guided the offense with 35 assists and secured a double-double by adding a match-high 13 digs. Arquette also tallied two kills, two aces, and a pair of blocks to round out a versatile performance.

Freshman Mano Antiga entered late in the second and third sets, finishing with three kills and a match-point block to close out the night.

What a rally to end it! 🤯 The 'Bows close on a 6-1 run and complete the sweep on walk-off block! #GoBows #SISTAHHOOD https://t.co/oaBPRpwkDR — Hawaii W. Volleyball (@HawaiiWVB) October 25, 2026

UNLV was led by Basia Latos, who finished with a team-high eight kills and seven digs.

The opening set was tied 10 times, but as in Friday's series opener, the 'Bows surged late in the set to claim the lead in the match. A kill by Reid broke a 19-19 tie, Rachel Purser dealt an ace, and Reid and Sylvester combined on a block to push UH ahead. A kill by Reid gave UH set point, and Ratkai scored off the block to end the set.

Hawai'i found another gear entirely in the second frame, overwhelming the Rebels with a blistering.500 attacking clip on 21 kills and just five errors. The Rainbow Wahine defense simultaneously suffocated UNLV, holding the visitors to three kills in the set with a.048 hitting percentage. Arquette set the tone for the frame with an eight-point service turn highlighted by three kills and a block from Purser.

UNLV led throughout the third set and opened up 15-10 and 20-15 cushions. Trailing 22-19, UH went on a 4-0 run and moved ahead on a block by Arquette and Purser. After a UNLV kill tied the set at 23-23, Ratkai scored to give UH match point, and Antiga's block to cap a lengthy rally punctuated the victory.

The Rainbow Wahine head on the road to face former Big West rival UC Davis on Oct. 30 and 31 in Davis, Calif.

The Machine in Powder Springs: McEachern Rises to No. 8 in the Nation

Some programs rebuild. McEachern just reloads.

The Indians from Powder Springs have opened the season 8-0 and climbed to No. 8 in the MaxPreps national Top 25, powered by a Thursday doubleheader statement that turned heads well beyond Georgia. McEachern beat previously unbeaten Moody (Ala.) 26-7 in an interstate showdown, then knocked off in-state power Blessed Trinity (Roswell) 28-6 on the same night.

Junior quarterback Ava George was surgical across the two wins, completing 26 of 35 passes for 368 yards and three touchdowns. For the season, George has completed 75 percent of her passes — and she is a problem on the other side of the ball, too, with four interceptions on defense.

Earlier this month, McEachern won the season’s most anticipated early matchup, beating Sequoyah 21-12 on Oct. 14 in a game where both teams entered 5-0. The Indians’ defense came up with two interceptions to protect the perfect record.

The standard in Powder Springs is not a hot start. It is history. McEachern is 100-6 since 2022, a run that includes a 28-0 state championship campaign in 2024 and a state runner-up finish in 2025. Six losses in five seasons is not a typo — it is a culture.

With the GHSA state tournament set to open Nov. 18 and the finals on Dec. 8 in Atlanta, the question around Georgia flag football is the same one it has been for years: can anybody slow down the machine when it matters most? Moody arrived unbeaten and left with a 19-point loss. Blessed Trinity is a proven power and managed six points.

The Indians have made their case as Georgia’s team to beat — and one of the best teams in America, at any level of the flag game.
