Evan Mobley scored 24 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Cleveland Cavaliers rallied from 13 points down to beat the Washington Wizards 121-111 on Wednesday night, spoiling the NBA debut of No. 1 overall draft pick AJ Dybantsa.

Washington started fast, riding a 42-point first quarter to a 69-59 halftime lead, and an alley-oop finish by Dybantsa pushed the margin to 76-63 early in the third quarter. Cleveland answered with a 29-16 run to close the period tied at 92, then took its first lead since the opening quarter on Mobley’s slam to open the fourth. Dybantsa briefly put Washington back in front 105-104, but the Cavaliers scored the next nine points to take control for good.

Mobley made a career-high five 3-pointers on six attempts and scored 10 of his points in the fourth quarter. Peyton Watson added a season-high 22 points, Donovan Mitchell had 19 points and seven assists, James Harden scored 16 points, and Jarrett Allen matched Mobley with 12 rebounds to go with three blocks.

Dybantsa, who missed Washington’s first four games with a sprained left ankle suffered in the preseason finale, started and led the Wizards with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting in 26 minutes, including nine points in the first quarter. Anthony Davis and Alex Sarr scored 18 apiece, Bilal Coulibaly added 17 points on 8-of-9 shooting, and Kyshawn George dished out a career-high 11 assists.

The win was Cleveland’s 17th straight over Washington, tying the franchise record for its longest winning streak against a single opponent and standing as the longest active streak in the league. The Cavaliers improved to 3-1 with their third straight win; Washington fell to 2-3.

Quentin Grimes scored 23 points and Collin Sexton added 21 off the bench as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the LA Clippers 103-87 on Wednesday night at Intuit Dome, winning without Luka Doncic on the second night of a back-to-back.

Doncic was held out with back tightness after scoring 41 points in Tuesday’s loss to Portland, and Ziaire Williams also sat out. The Lakers answered with defense, forcing 24 Clippers turnovers and scoring 31 points off them, while collecting 15 steals and 17 offensive rebounds to overcome their own 21 turnovers.

The Lakers led 25-22 after a low-scoring first quarter, then broke the game open before halftime. They closed the half on a 27-7 run to lead 56-38 at the break, outscoring the Clippers 31-16 in the second quarter.

The Clippers cut the lead to single digits early in the third, but the Lakers answered with a 10-0 run, and Sexton scored 11 straight points late in the period to push the lead to 19. Los Angeles took an 85-66 lead into the fourth and never let the Clippers back within reach, even through a four-minute scoring drought late.

Austin Reaves finished with 16 points and six rebounds, Matisse Thybulle added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, Sandro Mamukelashvili had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Walker Kessler contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers, who improved to 4-1.

Keaton Wagler led the Clippers with 21 points. Derrick Jones Jr. scored 15 points and Darius Garland added 14 points and five assists for the Clippers, who fell to 1-3.
