Wembanyama’s 36 Powers Spurs Past Jazz 117-111 in Overtime
Victor Wembanyama delivered 36 points, 14 rebounds and five assists as the San Antonio Spurs outlasted the Utah Jazz 117-111 in overtime on Wednesday night.
Utah, playing without stars Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr., started fast behind its young core. Keyonte George set the tone early, the Jazz led 32-22 after one quarter and 55-51 at halftime, and their advantage grew to 11 points. But San Antonio’s defense steadily tightened: the Spurs piled up 14 steals, forced 19 turnovers and owned a commanding 54-34 advantage in points in the paint.
The teams traded the lead through a tense second half and were deadlocked 105-105 after regulation, each scoring 20 points in the fourth quarter. San Antonio finally created separation in the extra period, outscoring Utah 12-6 to escape with the win.
Wembanyama shot 14 of 25 from the field, hit four 3-pointers and did not commit a turnover in nearly 39 minutes. Devin Vassell added 21 points and was a key figure in the fourth-quarter push, while De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle scored 14 points apiece — Castle adding eight assists — and Dylan Harper contributed 13 points and eight assists.
George carried Utah with a team-high 31 points, including five 3-pointers, in the expanded role created by the injuries to the Jazz’s frontcourt stars. Airious Bailey scored 19 points with six rebounds, Darryn Peterson added 18 points and five rebounds, and Brice Sensabaugh chipped in 16 points with four 3-pointers.
San Antonio improved to 3-2, moving above .500 for the first time this season. Utah fell to 1-4 despite the spirited performance from its young lineup.

Grimes Scores 23, Sexton Adds 21 as Lakers Beat Clippers 103-87 Without Dončić
Quentin Grimes scored 23 points and Collin Sexton added 21 off the bench as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the LA Clippers 103-87 on Wednesday night at Intuit Dome, winning without Luka Doncic on the second night of a back-to-back.
Doncic was held out with back tightness after scoring 41 points in Tuesday’s loss to Portland, and Ziaire Williams also sat out. The Lakers answered with defense, forcing 24 Clippers turnovers and scoring 31 points off them, while collecting 15 steals and 17 offensive rebounds to overcome their own 21 turnovers.
The Lakers led 25-22 after a low-scoring first quarter, then broke the game open before halftime. They closed the half on a 27-7 run to lead 56-38 at the break, outscoring the Clippers 31-16 in the second quarter.
The Clippers cut the lead to single digits early in the third, but the Lakers answered with a 10-0 run, and Sexton scored 11 straight points late in the period to push the lead to 19. Los Angeles took an 85-66 lead into the fourth and never let the Clippers back within reach, even through a four-minute scoring drought late.
Austin Reaves finished with 16 points and six rebounds, Matisse Thybulle added 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, Sandro Mamukelashvili had 13 points and eight rebounds, and Walker Kessler contributed 11 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers, who improved to 4-1.
Keaton Wagler led the Clippers with 21 points. Derrick Jones Jr. scored 15 points and Darius Garland added 14 points and five assists for the Clippers, who fell to 1-3.
