Sleepytime Village Brings Its Haunted Storybook Adventure to Steam and GOG

Sleepytime Village is out now on Steam and GOG. Publisher Dionous Games and developer Lightfoot Bros Games released the hand-drawn, voice-acted point-and-click adventure on October 30, 2026, with a 20 percent launch discount available until November 13, 2026.

The game follows Rufus, a workaholic father who wakes up trapped inside a haunted children’s storybook. To find his way home, he must explore the storybook’s strange world, meet its residents and make choices that carry real consequences. The story is built around redemption, and the decisions players make lead to multiple endings.

Inspired by classic adventures such as Monkey Island and Broken Sword, Sleepytime Village keeps its scares gentle: it is spooky rather than gory, with no deaths and no jump scares. Players can expect dozens of puzzles to solve, more than 100 collectible objects to find and over 70 hand-drawn scenes to explore, all accompanied by an original score.

The game’s characters have an unusual origin: they began as real drawings by the young daughter of writer Steven Horry, were re-imagined by artist Yulia Lapko and animated by James Lightfoot. Horry, Lightfoot and Ken Reynolds lead the small team behind the game, blending children’s imagination with adult introspection.

Sleepytime Village is available now on Steam and GOG, with the 20 percent launch discount running until November 13, 2026.

The adventure is fully voice-acted, and its hand-drawn world is filled with characters and secrets to uncover as Rufus works toward redemption. On Steam, the game is priced at $11.99, with the launch discount bringing it down to $9.59 until November 13, 2026.

Gumball and the Shrink Ray Zaps Steam and Game Boy Color in 2027

Gumball and the Shrink Ray is coming to Steam and Game Boy Color in 2027. The announcement from Mega Cat Studios and Exquisite Laundry Pet brings back gaming’s favorite chewable champion for a sequel to Gumball in Trick-or-Treat Land, and players can wishlist the game now ahead of launch. A sugary-sweet announcement trailer has also been released to celebrate the reveal, just in time for Halloween.

Set five years after his first adventure, the game finds Gumball enjoying a quiet life in his gumball machine until an emergency broadcast from a frantic marshmallow scientist drops him into an unfamiliar corner of Trick-or-Treat Land. His old pal Cornando is trapped inside Shrink HQ, the headquarters of the corporation behind the Shrink Ray craze, while billboards for MUSSTY’S SHRINK SHOP line every road. Armed with a discount Junk Ray and a pocketful of treats, Gumball must build a Shrink Squad, cross the bustling northern frontier, and discover what the Board of Directors is really planning.

Almost every opponent can join the team, with more than 70 partners to recruit into squads of three that can be swapped at Shrink Terminals across the map. Each partner has four attacks, but damage is not the only way to win: players can swing an opponent’s MOOD or build their own MOMENTUM to earn extra turns and outmaneuver tougher squads. The revamped battle system adds new angles to combat and new solutions through team customization.

The adventure spans 12 distinct areas, each with its own day-and-night palettes, characters and encounters, and time passes as players travel. Gumball can also shrink down to slip into tiny side-scrolling worlds hidden inside the overworld, home to secret treats, crumbs and bug partners found nowhere else. The pixel art evokes late-era Game Boy Color titles that pushed the hardware to its limits, and a physical Game Boy Color cartridge is planned alongside the Steam release.

The story runs 15 to 25 hours in the tradition of EarthBound, Paper Mario and the great Game Boy Color RPG sequels, with a brand-new cast and a few familiar faces. Gumball and the Shrink Ray is in active development, and its screenshots and footage show work-in-progress content, so fans can wishlist it on Steam to follow along until it arrives in 2027.
