YOUR ANGEL RELEASES NEW SINGLE “GOOD GIRL” NEW ALBUM, A STAR IN THE HEADLIGHTS, OUT MARCH 17TH
YOUR ANGEL — the project of Los Angeles-based singer, songwriter and producer Maddy Boyd — shares her new single “Good Girl,” off her forthcoming album A Star in the Headlights, out March 17th. The accompanying “Good Girl” live performance video, which was directed by P.J. Charles, is also out today.
Following “You Never Say Sorry” and “Misbehave,” “Good Girl” is the third track to be released from A Star in the Headlights. Pairing sultry, sparse production with lush synths and vocal stacks, “Good Girl” is an ethereal and expansive alt-pop gem. “It’s a song about dating someone who always has their sights set somewhere else,” says YOUR ANGEL. “It’s about the feeling of spending all of your time with someone and still feeling profoundly alone.”
Originally hailing from Santa Fe, New Mexico and now based in Los Angeles, Maddy – aka YOUR ANGEL – got her start touring in indie-rock bands like Current Joys and Surf Curse. After playing over 150 sold out shows, she left the bands in 2019 to pursue her own artist project. She released her debut album, Pipe Dream, the same year.
Now, YOUR ANGEL is ready to reveal her sophomore record, A Star in the Headlights. The album’s singles have already seen widespread support from tastemakers like NYLON, Consequence, and Notion. A Star in the Headlights will be out on March 17th.

jon scott’s “YOU ARE SO REAL” Has A Surprisingly Buoyant Origin
A song written during months of recovery from spinal surgery might be expected to sound a little heavy. jon scott’s “YOU ARE SO REAL” takes a different route.
The single came together while scott was bedbound and working through rehabilitation. It reflects the support he received from family, friends and others who reached out, as well as the happiness of returning to creative work. Yet the finished track is not weighed down by that story. It sounds like someone who has found a reason to put the kettle on, turn up the music and enjoy the day.
The retro-inspired production gives it a relaxed, classic feel, while the vocals keep things upbeat and joyful. The chorus is direct, and the instrumental section lets the song settle into its own rhythm.
That contrast is what makes the track interesting. The circumstances behind it are serious, but the song itself is about what makes life worth celebrating. It is not trying to turn recovery into a dramatic musical statement. Instead, it takes the support that helped scott through and gives it a joyous soundtrack.
“YOU ARE SO REAL” is a song about feeling better, but it gets there through a good mood rather than a heavy explanation. That is a refreshing way to approach a subject that could easily have gone in another direction. Have a listen for yourself below, courtesy of Now Listen.
