Italian ambient doom and trip-hop quartet BOSCO SACRO are streaming their second album Inhabit in full through Everything Is Noise, one day ahead of its worldwide release on Supernatural Cat Records.

“BOSCO SACRO has cast me under their spell, and it is a great pleasure to introduce this record.” – Everything Is Noise

Inhabit, the second album from Italian ambient doom/trip-hop quartet BOSCO SACRO, is now streaming in its entirety courtesy of Everything Is Noise. The album will be released worldwide tomorrow on Supernatural Cat Records, the label operated by members of Ufomammut and the Malleus Rock Art Collective.

BOSCO SACRO’s Inhabit is an exercise in sonic existentialism and a bold departure from their prior work. Entirely composed live in their rehearsal room and recorded by the band over a seven-day session with producer Lorenzo Stecconi, the album captures a raw and collective energy. Across eight interconnected tracks, the band crafts a modern ritual of ego dissolution and rebirth, weaving a diverse sonic tapestry where the crushing weight of doom and slowcore meets the weightless beauty of dreamgaze, ambient, and trip-hop.

Inhabit was recorded by the band with producer Lorenzo Stecconi (Amenra, Zu, Ufomammut, Lento) at Daniele Onori’s AMM, Monteggiori Studio, immersed in the hills of Tuscany, mixed and mastered by Stecconi at Triple Sun in Rome. Fans of Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, Lankum, Portishead, Massive Attack, Esben And The Witch, and Third And The Mortal, should not miss BOSCO SACRO.

The dialogue between the physical and the metaphysical is embodied by the album’s artwork. The cover features Testa di Terra (Head of Earth), a striking raw clay sculpture by Italian artist Roberta Busato. Just like the music within, the sculpture is born from the soil, fragile yet enduring. Depicted with closed eyes, the face alludes to a deeply meditative state, serving as the ultimate visual incarnation of the album’s concept: a bold invitation to step out of the noise of customary, ordered life, embrace the fertile void, and leap headfirst into a world where the future and the past exist all at once. Artwork from the regular edition reappears within the layers of the limited edition, connecting the two versions. The limited cover features an irregularly shaped cutout and holds four differently colored inserts; these, too, are concentrically die-cut to reveal the final layer, the hidden object emerging from within: the disc itself, an artifact to be unearthed and listened to. The inner sheets can be rotated randomly, ensuring that every single copy of the limited edition has a slightly different appearance.

The band offers, “Envision Inhabit as an embrace: a place where dissolution and reconnection become one. The album wasn’t born from a concept or an aesthetic — even though those came later — but directly out of our live practice, which has always been a profoundly vital and fertile dimension of expression for us. We can’t wait to bring it to life during our first series of gigs across Europe, with many more concerts coming in 2027.”

Everything Is Noise writes alongside their premiere of the album, “The Italian quartet recorded all of those previously mentioned fall vibes into one gorgeous and apropos album for this November. Inhabit sees BOSCO SACRO building their sound into new spires of gloomy vibes… BOSCO SACRO’s goth side is of the This Mortal Coil/Dead Can Dance ilk while notes of Faetooth, Portishead, and SubRosa add even more depth to their flavor.”

Supernatural Cat will release Inhabit on LP, CD, a Limited-Edition LP + CD bundle, and digital formats this Friday, November 6th.

Darren Jessee Returns With Wistful New Single “Shoulder Season”

Darren Jessee has been the drummer behind Ben Folds Five and the songwriter behind Hotel Lights, and his new single sounds like a man deciding not to put the pen down. “Shoulder Season,” recorded by Bonny Light Horseman’s Josh Kaufman, previews a forthcoming solo album due in 2027.

North Carolina-based singer-songwriter Darren Jessee (Ben Folds Five, Hotel Lights) is proud to present “Shoulder Season,” the acclaimed multi-instrumentalist’s brand new single lifted from his forthcoming solo album that will see a 2027 release. Recorded by GRAMMY-winning musician and producer Josh Kaufman of Bonny Light Horseman and mixed by Peter Katis (The National, Kurt Vile), “Shoulder Season” traces the paths people chart in and around our lives over the years. The track also invites close listening, which in turn draws attention to Jessee’s evocative lyrics as well as the nuanced instrumental performances he and Kaufman captured on tape. “‘Shoulder Season’ … I liked the words by themselves,” Jessee says. “They suggest perseverance and resilience during a season of time. The term shoulder season means a transitional time of year.” Watch the music video for “Shoulder Season” on YouTube.

Darren Jessee was in a period of personal upheaval. His mother had recently passed away after a short illness. He was also touring as a drummer for the Americana act Chatham County Line, a gig that he enjoyed but one that kept him from performing much as a solo artist. And then his label rep at Bar/None, home of Jessee’s last seven albums, retired. In the wake of it all, Jessee found himself wondering if it was perhaps time to set aside the burden of managing a songwriting career and simply lean into his work as a drummer. “But then I just kept finding these songs and enjoying them,” he says of his forthcoming solo showcase that symbolizes a new beginning for the veteran musician — an organic, hushed and transcendent sound very much inspired by the blizzard that the album was recorded in.

Stay tuned for more music and information on Darren Jessee’s forthcoming solo album to be announced in the coming weeks. Jessee will be making the following appearances in November:

November 12 — Wake Forest, NC — Wake Forest Listening Room

November 18 — Greensboro, NC — Flat Iron (with Natalie Jane Hill)
