Dominic Fike Drops His Third Album Tomorrow, While an Eight-Year-Old Song Sits at No. 1

Published

on

Dominic Fike is having the strangest and best month of his career at the same time. Tomorrow, October 30, he releases How To Quit Smoking, his third studio album, arriving through Columbia Records. Simultaneously, a song he put out as a teenager in 2018, “Babydoll,” has climbed to No. 1 on the Mediabase pop radio chart, giving Fike the first pop radio chart-topper of his career and holding the top spot for three weeks running. The new album does not have to introduce him to the audience “Babydoll” just built; it gets to answer them.

The 15-track album was largely written and recorded on the road during the North American leg of his Comedy Tragedy Parody tour, pieced together in hotel rooms, on the tour bus and in greenrooms between shows. Its rollout has followed the same restless energy: lead single “Wallflower” arrived August 19, “Small Town,” featuring Gabriel Jacoby and Emma Ogier, followed on September 18, and the final preview, “Pangea,” landed October 19 with a video filmed from a seaplane over Vancouver and directed by Reed Bennett and Kevin Abstract.

Fike used the same day as the “Pangea” release to announce where the album goes next. The Comedy Tragedy Parody tour heads to Europe in February and March 2027, opening in Düsseldorf on February 9 and moving through Brussels, Paris, Zurich, Milan, Munich, Vienna, Berlin, Copenhagen and Hamburg before closing its mainland run in Offenbach on February 27 and Amsterdam on February 28, then jumping to Birmingham, London and Manchester in early March.

This is Fike’s first studio album since 2023’s Sunburn, and the gap seems to have sharpened rather than slowed him. The Florida-born singer and guitarist has always treated genre as a suggestion, folding rap cadences into guitar-led pop, and the road-written track list, from “War Machine” and “Light Me on Fire” to “Honeylove” and “Lily Was A Cavalier,” suggests that restlessness is intact.

Few artists get a second first impression. With a No. 1 single he recorded at the start of his career and a brand-new album arriving within the same news cycle, Fike is getting exactly that, and tomorrow the new record gets its say.

FKA Twigs to Curate Meltdown 2027 at London’s Southbank Centre

FKA twigs has been announced as the curator of Meltdown 2027, taking over the Southbank Centre’s flagship festival in London for 11 days of performances running June 10 to 20, 2027. The news, revealed on October 20, 2026, makes the singer, dancer and visual artist the festival’s 32nd curator, and she will headline one of the days herself while building a lineup that reflects the diverse influences behind her own work.

The appointment places her in remarkable company. Since Meltdown began in 1993, its curators have included David Bowie, Patti Smith, Grace Jones, David Byrne, Yoko Ono, Nile Rodgers and Little Simz, with Harry Styles holding the role for the 2026 edition. Early names already attached to Twigs’s 2027 season include pianist Lang Lang, Patti Smith and composer Philip Glass, with the full lineup and ticket details still to come.

In a statement, Twigs said she was “honoured and excited to be curating Meltdown at the Southbank Centre,” describing a London upbringing that ran from Croydon College to underground cabaret clubs and warehouse parties, and promising to celebrate the diversity and creative energy that make the city one of the world’s great capitals of music and the arts. The festival will also spawn Hometown Meltdown, a new nationwide spin-off supporting grassroots venues in six cities between December 2026 and March 2027.

The honor arrives at the end of a banner stretch for the artist, whose music reaches U.S. audiences through Atlantic Records in partnership with her longtime label home, Young. Earlier this year she released “On Your Mind,” a euphoric collaboration with Lil Yachty that arrived on June 19, 2026, as her first new music of the year. Twigs has said she wrote the song after visa issues forced her to cancel the previous year’s Coachella appearances, channeling long nights of rehearsal in the dance studio into one of her most joyful recordings.

She has since wrapped the Body High Tour in support of “EUSEXUA” and its companion album “EUSEXUA Afterglow,” and, in the same week as the Meltdown announcement, signed with THE·TEAM agency. Curating Meltdown is the kind of platform reserved for artists whose taste is trusted as much as their talent. In 2027, London gets to hear what FKA twigs has been listening to.
