Nile Rodgers Hosts ‘Before The Moment,’ a New Lincoln Podcast Series on Music’s Defining Moments

Published

Every legendary career has a moment where everything changed. Nile Rodgers has lived through more of them than almost anybody — and now he is asking music’s biggest artists about theirs. On September 15, iHeartMedia’s Ruby Studio announced “Before The Moment with Nile Rodgers,” a new Lincoln original podcast series hosted by the Chic co-founder and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.

Across six episodes, Rodgers explores the defining moments that changed the careers of music’s biggest artists — the decisions, chances and turning points that came before the fame settled in. It is a natural seat for Rodgers, whose own story runs from the disco era he helped invent with Chic, through era-defining production work for artists across five decades, to his current status as one of popular music’s most beloved elder statesmen and storytellers. This is a man who produced era-defining records for David Bowie and Madonna and helped power Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” — his Rolodex of “moments” is the show’s premise and its proof.

The series pairs Rodgers with Lincoln as the presenting brand, continuing the automaker’s run of original audio storytelling, and adds another marquee name to Ruby Studio’s slate of branded and talent-led podcasts at iHeartMedia. For listeners, the draw is simple: few interviewers can trade “before the moment” stories with the greats as a peer. Rodgers does not just ask about the turning points — he was in the room for a remarkable number of music’s own.

“Before The Moment” is available on the iHeartRadio app and everywhere podcasts are heard.

Billy Porter Opens a Faith-and-Identity Conversation Series as First Guest of ‘This Is Our Story’

A new monthly conversation series is making room for the stories people are rarely asked to tell in full. “This Is Our Story,” hosted by Seth Pinnock — founder of the UK charity Symphony Co. — launched October 20 from Symphony Co. and In Details Studios, exploring culture, faith, sexuality, identity and the life-shaping stories in between.

The inaugural guest sets the tone: Billy Porter, the Emmy, Grammy and three-time Tony Award winner, sits down with Pinnock for an open conversation about growing up in the Pentecostal church, enduring bullying, and the long road through faith, healing and forgiveness.

Porter’s reflections anchor the episode. “Forgiveness is for me,” he says in the conversation. “It’s not forgive and forget. It’s forgive and move forward.” It is the kind of unguarded exchange the series is built to hold — personal history examined without spectacle, by a host whose own work through Symphony Co. centers community and young people’s stories.

As a monthly series, “This Is Our Story” is positioned as a slow conversation in a fast medium: one guest, one story, and the space to tell it properly. With Porter as its first voice, it opens with a story that moves from the church pews of Pittsburgh to the highest stages in entertainment — and finds healing, not bitterness, at the center of it.

That is precisely the ground Pinnock wants the series to hold. The conversations are structured around the moments that shape a life rather than the highlights that sell one, and Porter’s episode — part testimony, part masterclass in survival — gives the young series an unmistakable statement of intent from its very first installment.
