Lakeland hosts The First Academy on Friday night in one of Florida’s biggest Week 11 games, with kickoff set for 7:00 p.m., according to MaxPreps. Lakeland enters at 8-1 and The First Academy at 7-1, according to MaxPreps.

Statewide Week 11 coverage from the Palm Beach Post notes this is a rematch of last year’s double overtime thriller, and that both teams are in the Open Division picture. Lakeland claimed one of the final Open Division spots in the latest MaxPreps rankings released October 25, according to that coverage, while The First Academy currently sits in that picture as well. That gives a regular-season finale in Polk County statewide weight.

The First Academy travels from Orlando to face a Lakeland program that has been one of Florida’s best this season at home. For Lakeland, Friday is about protecting home field and its postseason position. For the Royals, it is a chance for a statement road win to close the regular season. Kickoff in Lakeland is set for 7:00 p.m. Friday night.

Harrison at McEachern: Hoyas Visit the Indians for a Cobb County Friday Night

Harrison visits McEachern on Friday night in Powder Springs, in a Cobb County region game between two programs that know each other well.

McEachern’s schedule tells a strong October story. The Indians won at Hillgrove 27-24 and beat Campbell 38-6 in region play earlier this month, per MaxPreps results. That is a home team that has won a close one and a comfortable one, which is exactly the range a team needs at this point in the season. At home on Friday, McEachern will expect to set the physical tone.

Harrison’s job is to disrupt that comfort. The Hoyas need to match McEachern at the line of scrimmage, stay patient on offense, and avoid falling behind early in a tough road environment. In Cobb County region play, a two-score hole on the road is a hard climb.

If Harrison can keep this close into the second half, the pressure moves to the home team. If McEachern starts fast, the Indians can lean on the formula that has worked all month. Harrison at McEachern kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
