North Gwinnett at Norcross: Bulldogs Take a 7-1 Mark Into a Gwinnett Region Rivalry

North Gwinnett at Norcross is one of the Gwinnett County games that needs no selling on Friday night. The Bulldogs visit Norcross High School for a 7:00 p.m. region game, and the building should feel like late October.

MaxPreps lists North Gwinnett at 7-1 and Norcross at 4-4. The Bulldogs have put together the stronger season, but rivalry road games are not decided on a standings page. North Gwinnett will have to handle a motivated home team and a home crowd that knows this opponent well.

Norcross, at 4-4, gets its shot at home. The Blue Devils’ path is to make the Bulldogs work for every yard, win the turnover battle, and turn this into a fourth-quarter game. Against a 7-1 team, a home underdog does not need to dominate. It needs to stay close long enough for pressure to build.

North Gwinnett’s answer has to be composure. Take care of the ball, handle the environment, and play the steady football that built that record. North Gwinnett at Norcross kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

Westminster at Douglass: Wildcats and Astros Meet at Lakewood Stadium on Friday Night

Westminster visits Douglass on Friday night at Lakewood Stadium, in the latest kickoff on the Atlanta slate at 8:00 p.m.

MaxPreps lists Douglass at 6-2 and Westminster at 3-5 for this region meeting. The Astros have put together the stronger season, and at home they will look to play from in front. Douglass beat Pace Academy 50-19 in its most recent listed game, a result MaxPreps reported, with the Astros improving to 6-2. That is a home team in form.

Westminster enters off a 55-0 league loss to Stephenson, per the same MaxPreps report, and the Wildcats’ response is the story of their night. A team can fold after a result like that, or it can tackle better, protect the ball, and make the favorite work. Westminster needs the second version, and it needs it from the opening drive.

For Douglass, the standard is to keep playing the football that built its record, without giving a wounded opponent life. Westminster at Douglass kicks off Friday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium.
