Discovery visits Buford on Friday night, and there is no hiding from the matchup. The Titans go to face an 8-0 Buford team that has handled every test on its schedule so far.

MaxPreps lists Buford at 8-0 and Discovery at 0-8 for October 30. USA Today noted Buford was coming off a 40-0 win over Mill Creek, while Discovery had been outscored on the season. High School On SI added the bigger picture: with a win Friday, Buford moves closer to an unbeaten regular season, with two wins needed at the start of the week.

For Buford, the job is focus. Unbeaten teams in late October play against the opponent and against complacency. The Wolves need a clean, sharp performance at home, the kind that treats every possession like it matters, because in a few weeks every possession will.

Discovery’s goal is to compete snap to snap and make Buford earn everything. On the road, against an unbeaten team, small wins matter: a stop, a sustained drive, a quarter kept close. Discovery at Buford kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

Westminster at Douglass: Wildcats and Astros Meet at Lakewood Stadium on Friday Night

Westminster visits Douglass on Friday night at Lakewood Stadium, in the latest kickoff on the Atlanta slate at 8:00 p.m.

MaxPreps lists Douglass at 6-2 and Westminster at 3-5 for this region meeting. The Astros have put together the stronger season, and at home they will look to play from in front. Douglass beat Pace Academy 50-19 in its most recent listed game, a result MaxPreps reported, with the Astros improving to 6-2. That is a home team in form.

Westminster enters off a 55-0 league loss to Stephenson, per the same MaxPreps report, and the Wildcats’ response is the story of their night. A team can fold after a result like that, or it can tackle better, protect the ball, and make the favorite work. Westminster needs the second version, and it needs it from the opening drive.

For Douglass, the standard is to keep playing the football that built its record, without giving a wounded opponent life. Westminster at Douglass kicks off Friday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium.
