Copper Lungs explores bold new sounds with their latest track Pieces of Me

If you’re new to Copper LungsPieces of Me is the perfect song to start with. This new single is a mix of everything we love about anthemic pop-rock, but with the emotional weight of a ballad. It’s equal parts grateful, vulnerable, and hopeful — a hard combo to pull off, but Copper Lungs does it so well.

Moving away from their usual indie-rock vibe, the Dundee-based band is now exploring more textured sounds and is determined to push their music in a fresh, bolder direction. As the song builds, you’re hit with a wave of ambient, layered synths and soaring guitar riffs. This track is a great snapshot of a band in evolution, bringing a more anthemic feel to their sound and making Pieces of Me one of their most dynamic tracks yet.

The fun part of the story behind the song is how it turned into something bigger than they first planned. Darren, the band’s songwriter, mentioned that Pieces of Me started out with a lighter, indie vibe. But as the band got into it, they let the song take on a life of its own, growing into something huge, engaging and honestly, kind of addictive!

The lyrics talk about the kind of love that finds you when you’re at a low point and ends up bringing you back to life. There’s a sense of looking back on tough times with a bit of gratitude, realising they’ve made you stronger and led you to this moment. That authentic emotion comes through clearly, and it’s even more impressive when you find out that Pieces of Me was written in just about an hour!

For fans who’ve been following Copper Lungs, this shift in sound shows a band that’s willing to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. They’ve kept the heart and honesty that fans love, but now with an edge that’s bold and refreshing. Pieces of Me definitely feels like the start of a new chapter, and we’re lucky enough to be along for the ride!

Last Train to play UK dates!

After ‘Weathering’ and ‘The Big Picture’, acclaimed Lyon-based 4-piece Last Train‘s new album is a direct reflection of raw anger. Recorded in a crumbling, unheated chateau, ‘III’ channels frustration into meticulously composed rock. Formed in the 2010s, Jean-Noël Scherrer, Julien Peultier, Timothée Gérard and Antoine Baschung gained a strong following with their first two albums and toured with Muse and Placebo. In 2024 they released ‘Original Motion Picture Soundtrack’, an orchestral reworking of their songs, but the new album marks their true return to form as a rock band. Tracks like the first two singles ‘Home’ and ‘The Plan’ combine rock energy with melody, balancing emotional depth and anger.

With ‘III’, Last Train have produced a radical and authentic third album, far from the aseptic super-productions. With ‘One by One’ – the focus track, you’ll feel right in the band’s rehearsal room: screeching feedback, punchy drums, overflowing bass and incisive choruses. Provocative as it is, the track embodies a frantic race: the train will go on, with or without us. Mature, confident and increasingly daring, these ambassadors of French rock continue their dizzying ascent, no matter how high the wall!

The band are touring Europe extensively this year in support of the album, including a headline London show and appearances at Focus Wales and The Great Escape Festival. Don’t miss the chance to catch them live in all of their glory.

Upcoming UK shows:

8.05: Focus Wales, Wrexham (20:15- Ty Pawb)

10.05: Focus Wales, Wrexham (19:25- Penny Black)

12.05: The Grace, London (Headline show)

16.05: The Great Escape, Brighton (7pm at The Wing at The Brighton Centre).
