Luka Doncic scored 45 points with 15 rebounds, six assists and five steals as the Los Angeles Lakers built a 26-point lead and held off a furious Toronto Raptors rally for a 131-125 victory on Sunday night.

Doncic made 12 of 23 shots, went 8 of 12 from 3-point range to match his season high for made threes and hit all 13 of his free throws. He scored 24 points with six 3-pointers in the first half as Los Angeles (5-2) led 36-23 after one quarter and 66-54 at the break, then pushed the lead to 104-82 through three quarters. Austin Reaves added 19 points, Walker Kessler had 16 points, 15 rebounds and three blocked shots and Collin Sexton scored 14 for the Lakers, who bounced back from blowing a 25-point lead in a loss at Golden State on Friday.

Toronto (3-3) outscored Los Angeles 43-27 in the fourth quarter. The Raptors pulled within 109-100 on a Barrett 3-pointer with 6:58 left, but Doncic returned to the game and sparked a 9-1 run that restored a 118-101 lead with 4:07 remaining. Toronto still would not fold, closing within 125-120 on a three-point play by Jaden Bradley with 43.7 seconds left before the Lakers closed out the win. Los Angeles shot 53.8 percent from the floor and 48.6 percent from 3-point range but committed 24 turnovers.

Scottie Barnes scored 29 points for Toronto one game after his career-high 41 against Orlando, and RJ Barrett added 22 points and 10 rebounds. Jamison Battle scored 20 points and Immanuel Quickley had 12 for the Raptors, who fell to 1-3 since Kawhi Leonard sustained a knee injury and opened a four-game road trip with the loss.

The NBA suspended Atlanta Hawks guard Kingston Flemings one game without pay for intentionally elbowing New Orleans Pelicans guard Bryce McGowens in the head, the league announced on Sunday.

The incident occurred with 3:04 remaining in the fourth quarter of New Orleans’ 121-99 home win over Atlanta on Saturday. Flemings was assessed a technical foul and ejected after a review, a brief skirmish broke out, and Pelicans forward Julian Reese also received a technical foul. Flemings had scored 12 points with six assists off the bench before the ejection.

Flemings will serve the suspension on Monday when Atlanta visits the Indiana Pacers, and the one-game ban will cost him $42,234. The eighth overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft out of Houston, the rookie point guard has quickly become a key part of the Hawks’ second unit, averaging 7.1 points and 4.7 assists in seven games this season.
