Planet Zoo 2 Opens Its Gates With Aquariums, Aviaries and Wildlife Reserves
Frontier Developments has opened the gates on Planet Zoo 2, the sequel to its 2019 zoo management hit, out now on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Unlike the original, which took years to reach consoles, the sequel launched on every platform the same day, October 13, at $49.99.
The roster runs to more than 130 species, and for the first time in the series some of them leave the ground and the land entirely. Fully aquatic species fill aquariums and flyable birds fill aviaries, both built with the series’ signature piece-by-piece construction tools. Frontier calls this the most true-to-life representation of animals in the series to date, across fur, feathers and scales.
The biggest new idea sits outside the zoo walls. Wildlife Reserves are conservation sites around the world where players raise animals and release them into ecosystems they restore, running each reserve as its own project alongside their zoos. A new Planet Hub ties an entire network of zoos and reserves into one screen. Career, Franchise and Sandbox modes all return, with Franchise again letting players trade animals and chase community goals online, and a first-person camera lets you walk your own zoo, or visit other players’ creations through the Frontier Workshop.
The Deluxe Edition, at $64.99, adds six species, the golden eagle, golden lion tamarin, great hammerhead shark, axolotl, blue and gold fusilier and longfin batfish, plus exclusive animal signage. Physical editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S followed on October 20.
The animals were always the stars of this series. Now they swim and fly too.

Planted! Launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Bringing Horticultural Combat to Consoles
Competitive gardening has officially gone extreme. Planted!, the chaotic 1-to-4 player party game from Welsh studio Cloth Cat Games and publisher Curveball Games, launches today on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, inviting players to sow, grow and throw their way to victory against their friends.
The setup is simple and gloriously silly: players race around an allotment growing fresh produce, then fling it at goals, and at each other, to rack up points and be crowned champion. There is an arsenal for the dirty work, too, including weed bombs, spud turrets and eerily green clones to help players edge out the competition.
The eight multiplayer arenas refuse to stay in the garden. Matches play out on windy mountainsides, in cavernous cave systems, on half-built skyscrapers and around active volcanoes, each location bringing its own twists and hazards. The arenas support both local play and online multiplayer with crossplay, and players can pick from a cast of unlikely characters, each with their own personality and style.
For solo players, Planted! also carries a full single-player story mode set in the cutthroat world of competitive gardening, with challenges and boss battles that teach the tactics which carry straight into multiplayer. “What started as a fun prototype for us to test out our weird and wacky ideas on has become a game the whole team has poured so much heart and soul into,” said Ben Cawthorne, Creative Producer at Cloth Cat Games.
Planted! is available digitally now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A digital PC release and a physical PlayStation 5 edition follow in time for Christmas, after a delay to the Steam version’s approval, and a Nintendo Switch version is planned for early 2027.
