No. 24 Iowa did not just beat Wisconsin on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes erased them.

Iowa blanked Wisconsin 30-0 in the 100th meeting between the two rivals, a fifth straight win in the Heartland Trophy series and the Hawkeyes’ second straight shutout of the Badgers. With the win, the all-time series is tied 49-49-2.

Quarterback Hank Brown was nearly perfect, completing 20 of 24 passes for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Tight end DJ Vonnahme caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown and added a rushing score of his own. Iowa’s kicking game did the rest, drilling three field goals, including a career-long 54-yarder.

Wisconsin’s offense never got off the ground. The Badgers benched starting quarterback Joseph, and backup Hopkins finished 8 of 13 for 93 yards with an interception against a defense that owned the day from the opening kick.

Iowa improves to 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the Big Ten. Wisconsin falls to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

Oklahoma scored twice late against the reserves, John Mateer finding Ivan Carreon for touchdowns of 34 and 10 yards, the first two scoring catches of Carreon’s career, but the Sooners’ last drive died on downs at the South Carolina 1-yard line. South Carolina outgained Oklahoma 521 yards to 359 and won despite throwing three interceptions.
