Dawgs’ Defense Owns Atlanta: No. 3 Georgia Smothers No. 20 Florida 27-8 in the Cocktail Party’s Mercedes-Benz Debut
Georgia’s defense turned the World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party into a house party of its own on Saturday, smothering Florida 27-8 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in the rivalry’s first Atlanta edition.
The Bulldogs scored 17 points off Florida turnovers and held the Gators scoreless for three quarters. Florida’s quarterbacks told the story: starter Aaron Philo threw two early interceptions and was benched, and his replacement, Tramell Jones Jr., lost a fumble that Chris Cole returned for a touchdown just before halftime to make it 24-0.
Georgia struck first on Nate Frazier’s 1-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, set up by an Ellis Robinson interception. Peyton Woodring added a 28-yard field goal, Bo Walker punched in another 1-yard score, and Cole’s scoop-and-score off Quint Johnson’s strip-sack broke the game open before the break.
Florida finally scored in the fourth quarter on Jones Jr.’s 2-yard touchdown run and a two-point conversion, extending the Gators’ scoring streak to 481 straight games, but Woodring’s late 21-yard field goal closed the scoring. Jones Jr. finished 18 of 25 for 172 yards, and Bailey Stockton caught eight passes for 76 yards for Florida.
Gunner Stockton threw for 101 yards for Georgia, while Frazier and Dwight Phillips Jr. ran for 67 yards apiece in a ground game that outgained Florida 217-48. Georgia improves to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the SEC. Florida falls to 5-3 and 3-3.

Sellers Accounts for Five Touchdowns as South Carolina Routs Oklahoma 42-25 in Norman
LaNorris Sellers put on a show in Norman. The South Carolina quarterback threw for 301 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 96 yards and two more scores as the Gamecocks routed Oklahoma 42-25 on Saturday, their third straight win.
Sellers opened the scoring with a 15-yard touchdown run. Oklahoma’s only first-half life was a Kip Lewis 30-yard pick-six that tied it 7-7 early in the second quarter, and South Carolina answered immediately: Christian Clark’s short touchdown run, then Sellers hit DJ Black for an 84-yard touchdown on third-and-12 and Nyck Harbor for an 8-yard score with 16 seconds left in the half. Oklahoma’s offense managed just 71 total yards before halftime.
Sellers’ 11-yard rushing touchdown made it 35-10 in the third quarter, and after Oklahoma finally scored on offense, he answered with a 79-yard touchdown strike to Mazeo Bennett Jr. early in the fourth quarter. Bennett finished with four catches for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Oklahoma scored twice late against the reserves, John Mateer finding Ivan Carreon for touchdowns of 34 and 10 yards, the first two scoring catches of Carreon’s career, but the Sooners’ last drive died on downs at the South Carolina 1-yard line. South Carolina outgained Oklahoma 521 yards to 359 and won despite throwing three interceptions.
South Carolina improves to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the SEC. Oklahoma falls to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play.
