The Outlast Trials Brings Its Co-Op Horror to Nintendo Switch 2 With Full Crossplay
The therapy now fits in your hands. Red Barrels has launched The Outlast Trials on Nintendo Switch 2, bringing the cooperative survival horror game to Nintendo’s console just ahead of Halloween. The Switch 2 version is available now through the Nintendo eShop for $39.99, and it arrives with full crossplay, so Switch 2 players can team up with friends on PC, PlayStation and Xbox instead of being limited to one system.
The Outlast Trials is a prequel in the Outlast series, set during the Cold War. Players take the role of Reagents, unwilling test subjects recruited by the Murkoff Corporation and put through brutal experiments in brainwashing and mind control inside the Sinyala Facility. There is no winning a straight fight here — survival depends on stealth, quick thinking, completing each trial’s objectives and knowing when to run and hide.
Unlike the earlier single-player Outlast games, The Outlast Trials is built for company. Every trial can be played solo or in an online team of up to four players, and working together is often the difference between escaping and being dragged back into the dark. Between trials, players can unlock tools, upgrades and perks that improve their chances, and gather evidence of what Murkoff has been doing to its subjects.
The game first reached players in Early Access on PC in May 2023 and received its full release across consoles and PC in March 2024. Its arrival on Nintendo Switch 2 gives the series a portable home for the first time in this entry, letting players take Murkoff’s experiments on the go while still grouping up with friends on any platform. For horror fans looking for one more scare this Halloween week, the trials are open.

Escape From Playtime Adds Public Lobbies and More in Week-One Update; Roadmap Revealed
It’s been a delightfully terrifying first week of Escape From Playtime since its October 21st launch, and today Mob Entertainment drops more details on the game’s latest update, plus an early roadmap of new content and features for fans to look forward to.
Available as of today:
- PUBLIC LOBBIES — Instead of mandated group play and lobby codes, the latest update adds public lobbies, making it easy for players to queue, find a group, or set up their own lobby, with group sizes of 2-8 players.
- LORE GALORE — Search every nook and cranny again and AGAIN, because 12 more mysterious notes have been scattered around the factory just waiting to be found, along with strange posters on the walls and seemingly random VHS tapes discoverable throughout the facility. But who put them there, and to what end?
- GROUP TIMING ADJUSTMENTS — Based on player feedback so far, Mob is updating session and shift timing, balancing the difficulty for smaller groups to be able to complete shifts in full. After all, fewer hands means slower work.
Coming soon: more lore through various discoverable artifacts; tutorial updates and a guided shift for beginners; balanced group size and timing difficulty; new items, cosmetics, and emotes; more puzzles and challenges; updated gameplay and enemy enhancements.
Escape From Playtime is currently available in the Steam Scream V Fest with a limited-time 10% discount. Players who have already downloaded Poppy Playtime: Chapter 1 can stack an additional 10% off their game purchase.
About Escape From Playtime: Escape From Playtime sends the Smiling Critters into the abandoned Playtime Co. factory for co-op survival horror in the Poppy Playtime universe. Brave the halls alongside a partner or with up to seven friends, scavenging supplies and hauling building materials for a mysterious Voice that promises freedom and a home. Crawl, climb, solve puzzles, and squeeze into hiding spots while rejected toys hunt you through procedurally generated environments that change with every run. Keep your friends close and your voices down, because proximity voice chat means your next brilliant escape plan could reach the wrong ears. Survive the run, then check the Perm-A-Lounge computer to track your progress, examine rewards, and dig into the company secrets and connections to the wider Poppy Playtime story.
