One Piece: Grand Gourmet Serves Up a Restaurant Adventure With 400 Characters

Published

on

The Straw Hat Crew is getting into the restaurant business. One Piece: Grand Gourmet, a restaurant-management simulation from developer Kairosoft and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, has launched worldwide for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, iOS and Android.

Players take charge of Baratie Number Two, the Straw Hat Crew’s floating eatery, with Sanji, the crew’s famously devoted cook, installed as head chef. In classic Kairosoft fashion, the game blends approachable management systems with deep customization: more than 400 One Piece characters appear as staff and customers, and over 200 decoration items let players design a restaurant that matches their own taste, from the layout of the dining room to the menu it serves.

The simultaneous worldwide launch is unusual for a licensed anime title, which often staggers Japanese and Western releases by weeks or months. Bandai Namco instead released Grand Gourmet globally on a single day across five platforms, bringing the game to console, PC and mobile audiences at once. On PC, the game is priced at €19.99 on Bandai Namco’s European store, with US pricing reported at $19.99.

Kairosoft has spent decades perfecting the cozy management sim, building a catalogue of pixel-art business games covering everything from game studios to hot springs resorts, and Grand Gourmet applies that formula to one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world. For One Piece fans, the appeal is in the details: hundreds of familiar faces walking through the door of a restaurant you built, with Sanji running the kitchen the way only Sanji would.

One Piece: Grand Gourmet is available now on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, the App Store and Google Play.

MapleStory Classic World Launches, Bringing the Classic Era Back to PC and Mac

The old Maple World is open again. Nexon has officially launched MapleStory Classic World, a dedicated version of its long-running MMORPG built around the game’s classic era, with the servers opening October 21 at 11:00 AM PDT on the Nexon Launcher and Steam for Windows and macOS.

The launch follows a Founder’s Access period that began October 6. Founder’s packages went off sale on October 14, and progress made during early access carries into the full launch, so returning players keep the head start they built.

Classic World launches at version 1.0.0 with the structure longtime players remember. Characters choose from four first-job paths — Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief — at level 10, and the level cap sits at 100. There is no 3rd Job Advancement at launch; Nexon plans to add it gradually, pacing the rollout rather than dropping two decades of content at once.

The game is free to play, supported by a Cash Shop, with Leaf Points as its currency. Nexon has kept the two versions of MapleStory largely separate: the only thing shared with the modern game is the NX balance, so Classic World stands as its own economy and community.

Nexon America’s Hanbyeol Oh, known to the community as Inkwell, has framed the project as something other than a one-to-one recreation of the game from 20 years ago — a classic world rebuilt for the players who grew up with it, rather than a museum piece.

Classic launches have become a reliable draw across the MMO genre, and MapleStory carries more nostalgia than most. With a level cap, job structure and social pace modeled on the era that made the game a phenomenon, Classic World is Nexon’s play to bring its lapsed audience home.
