Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Adds Aang and Katara in the Avatar Legends Pack

Published

on

The Avatar has entered the race. SEGA has launched the Avatar Legends Pack for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, adding Aang and Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender as playable racers on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC.

The pack brings more than two drivers. Aang races in the Gliding Air, a machine built around his airbending glider, and the pack adds Lion Turtle Island as a new course, drawn from one of the series’ most memorable locations. Classic Avatar music joins the game’s Jukebox, including the Lion Turtle Island themes for the opening, the race and the final lap, plus character select and results tracks.

To mark the launch, the Avatar Legends Festival runs in-game from October 16, giving players a themed event window to race the new content in.

The Avatar Legends Pack is the sixth and final downloadable pack in the game’s Season Pass, closing out a first year of crossovers that has already pulled in Hatsune Miku, Persona 5’s Joker and Like a Dragon’s Ichiban Kasuga, among others. The pack is included with the Season Pass and the Digital Deluxe Edition, and is also sold on its own.

CrossWorlds built its identity on exactly this kind of collision — a kart racer where Sega’s roster shares the track with guests from completely different worlds, routed through the game’s Travel Rings across land, sea and air. Aang and Katara are a natural fit for that formula: two characters defined by movement, arriving with a vehicle and a course built from their own world rather than dropped into someone else’s.

Year Two content is already on the horizon, but for now the bending belongs to the Avatar.

THE FINALS Season 12 “PRIME TIME” Rebuilds Destruction and Adds Solo Showdown

Published

on

THE FINALS has always sold itself on destruction, and Season 12 rebuilds the whole system. “PRIME TIME,” live now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, is the free-to-play game show shooter’s largest update since its 2023 launch, headlined by Gradual Destruction: buildings now bend, sag and partially collapse under damage instead of shattering on cue, while Blast Waves displace objects and deform walls, and smoke and toxic gas have been reworked to interact with the geometry they move through.

The season’s new mode is Solo Showdown, launching in beta as the game’s first dedicated solo tournament. Twelve contestants play three rounds drawn from eight rotating mini-modes — Blast Off!, Heavy Hitters, Boom Brawl, Slam-A-Rama, Sniper Standoff, Winch Wars, Turbo Tussle and One and Gunned — with the four lowest scorers eliminated after each of the first two rounds.

The game show itself gets smarter with Dynamic Commentary, also in beta: announcer Scotty now calls contestants out by name for standout plays such as team wipes and revive streaks, turning the broadcast layer into part of the reward.

Light players get a full new playstyle, the Infiltrator. True Sight reveals opponents through smoke, the Mimic Device disguises a contestant as an object, and the Translocator swaps the player’s position with a marked object. Balance shifts around it: Light builds gain 25 health and Heavy builds lose 25, compressing the gap between the outer classes.

Three arenas — Monaco, Seoul and Skyway Stadium — have been remastered, the HUD and Side Panel redesigned, and sponsor rewards rebuilt around Contracts; the VR currency has been removed entirely. A Frights Galore Halloween wheel covers the seasonal beat.

Three years in, Embark is not coasting on THE FINALS’ formula — PRIME TIME re-engineers the thing the game is famous for, and bets that better destruction keeps the show on air.
