Tyler Perry’s ‘Beauty in Black’ Season 4 Begins Production in Atlanta

The Bellarie family saga is officially back in front of the cameras. Netflix has announced that Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black has kicked off production on Season 4 in Atlanta.

Perry remains the engine of the series in every sense — he serves as its creator, writer, director and executive producer. Angi Bones and Tony Strickland produce for Tyler Perry Studios, the Atlanta-based studio empire that has made the city one of the busiest production hubs in the country.

The new season has a proven hit behind it. Season 3, which premiered August 27, spent four weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10 and climbed to No. 1 in 22 countries, continuing the show’s run as one of the streamer’s most reliable performers. That global track record made a fourth season a matter of timing rather than debate.

Netflix is keeping the details of what comes next close to the vest. Casting information and a premiere date for Season 4 are being held for a later announcement, and the streamer is teasing the new chapter with a warning drawn straight from the Season 3 cliffhanger: survival is not guaranteed.

For Perry, the production start is another entry in a prolific run at Netflix, where his films and series consistently land among the platform’s most-watched titles. With cameras rolling in Atlanta and a fan base that has carried the series to the top of the charts in more than twenty countries, Beauty in Black is set to bring the Bellaries back for their next round.

Paul Giamatti Joins “Grandgear,” the First English-Language Film From “Godzilla Minus One” Director Takashi Yamazaki

Paul Giamatti is joining one of the most closely watched productions on the horizon. The acclaimed actor has been announced as a new cast addition to Grandgear, the upcoming film from Japanese director Takashi Yamazaki.

Yamazaki, who won worldwide acclaim with Godzilla Minus One, also wrote the script for Grandgear, which will be his first English-language film. Plot and character details are being kept under wraps, adding to the intrigue around the project.

Giamatti is not the only new name attached. Also announced for the cast are Nico Parker, known for The Last of Us and How to Train Your Dragon, and Sam Nivola of The White Lotus. The additions point to an ensemble that mixes veteran star power with two of the most in-demand young actors working today.

The film is being produced by J.J. Abrams under his Bad Robot banner, and production is expected to commence in 2027. For Giamatti, one of the most respected performers of his generation, the role adds a major international production to his slate — and pairs him with a filmmaker whose stock has never been higher.

Yamazaki’s schedule is busy in the meantime: his Godzilla Minus Zero is due in theaters in November. With a secretive script, a heavyweight producer, and a cast now led in part by Giamatti, Grandgear is shaping up as a production the industry will be following closely well before cameras roll.

The casting also underlines the scale of Yamazaki’s step into English-language filmmaking. A first film in a new language is a significant move for any director; making it with an actor of Giamatti’s caliber — opposite rising names like Parker and Nivola — signals a production aiming squarely at a global audience.
