Apex Legends Global Series Split 2 Playoffs Bring $2 Million Prize Pool to Las Vegas

The Apex Legends Global Series is coming back to North America. EA and Respawn Entertainment have announced the ALGS 2026 Split 2 Playoffs, an S-Tier offline tournament running October 29 to November 1 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, with 40 of the world’s best teams competing for a $2,000,000 prize pool. It is the second event of the 2026–2027 championship circuit and the first time the ALGS has played in North America since 2024.

The stakes extend well beyond the weekend. The winning team takes home $600,000 along with 3,000 Championship Points, the runners-up earn $300,000, and the third-place team $200,000, with playoff results also deciding spots at the ALGS Championship in Sapporo, Japan. Across the 120 players in the field, the largest contingents come from the United States, with 36 players, and Japan, with 25.

The format unfolds across three stages. In the group stage on October 29 and 30, the 40 teams are divided into four groups of ten for round-robin play, with each team playing three match series. The top 20 teams advance to the winners bracket and the bottom 20 drop to the losers bracket. The bracket stage follows on October 31, where the top ten from the winners bracket move directly to the finals, and the losers bracket fights through two elimination rounds for the remaining ten finals places.

Apex Legends remains one of the pillars of the battle royale esports scene, and a two-million-dollar LAN in Las Vegas, days after the launch of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, makes this one of the busiest weekends of the competitive gaming year.

One Piece: Grand Gourmet Serves Up a Restaurant Adventure With 400 Characters

The Straw Hat Crew is getting into the restaurant business. One Piece: Grand Gourmet, a restaurant-management simulation from developer Kairosoft and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment, has launched worldwide for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, iOS and Android.

Players take charge of Baratie Number Two, the Straw Hat Crew’s floating eatery, with Sanji, the crew’s famously devoted cook, installed as head chef. In classic Kairosoft fashion, the game blends approachable management systems with deep customization: more than 400 One Piece characters appear as staff and customers, and over 200 decoration items let players design a restaurant that matches their own taste, from the layout of the dining room to the menu it serves.

The simultaneous worldwide launch is unusual for a licensed anime title, which often staggers Japanese and Western releases by weeks or months. Bandai Namco instead released Grand Gourmet globally on a single day across five platforms, bringing the game to console, PC and mobile audiences at once. On PC, the game is priced at €19.99 on Bandai Namco’s European store, with US pricing reported at $19.99.

Kairosoft has spent decades perfecting the cozy management sim, building a catalogue of pixel-art business games covering everything from game studios to hot springs resorts, and Grand Gourmet applies that formula to one of the biggest entertainment franchises in the world. For One Piece fans, the appeal is in the details: hundreds of familiar faces walking through the door of a restaurant you built, with Sanji running the kitchen the way only Sanji would.

One Piece: Grand Gourmet is available now on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, the App Store and Google Play.
