Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown Gets Global Release Times Ahead of Its October 29 Launch

Published

on

Pearl Abyss has published the global release schedule for Charting the Unknown, the first paid expansion for its open-world action adventure Crimson Desert, confirming that the expansion unlocks worldwide at 22:00 UTC on October 29.

That single moment lands at 3 p.m. Pacific and 6 p.m. Eastern on October 29 in the United States, 10 p.m. in London and 11 p.m. in Berlin and Paris, and at 7 a.m. on October 30 in Tokyo and Seoul. The expansion launches the same moment on Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC, the PlayStation Store and the Xbox Store, priced at $24.99 in the US, with the base game required.

PlayStation players get one head start: pre-downloads open on the PlayStation Store exactly 24 hours before launch, so the expansion can be ready the moment it unlocks. Pre-download is not available on PC or Xbox Series X|S, where downloading begins at the official release time. A major update for the base game arrives alongside the expansion, and Pearl Abyss advises players to download and fully install that patch before launching, so the new content runs on the updated build.

Charting the Unknown expands the adventure from land to the open sea. Players can build and sail their own ships, dive underwater to explore what lies beneath the waves, develop relationships with specific characters, manage facilities and take on an expanded housing system. Every pre-order includes a bonus set of deep-sea exploration gear: the Charter’s Diving Set for Kliff and Oongka and the Charter’s Light Diving Set for Damiane.

The expansion arrives seven months after Crimson Desert’s main game launched in March, and two weeks later than first planned, after Pearl Abyss moved the date for additional polish and a stable gameplay experience.

MapleStory Classic World Launches, Bringing the Classic Era Back to PC and Mac

Published

on

The old Maple World is open again. Nexon has officially launched MapleStory Classic World, a dedicated version of its long-running MMORPG built around the game’s classic era, with the servers opening October 21 at 11:00 AM PDT on the Nexon Launcher and Steam for Windows and macOS.

The launch follows a Founder’s Access period that began October 6. Founder’s packages went off sale on October 14, and progress made during early access carries into the full launch, so returning players keep the head start they built.

Classic World launches at version 1.0.0 with the structure longtime players remember. Characters choose from four first-job paths — Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief — at level 10, and the level cap sits at 100. There is no 3rd Job Advancement at launch; Nexon plans to add it gradually, pacing the rollout rather than dropping two decades of content at once.

The game is free to play, supported by a Cash Shop, with Leaf Points as its currency. Nexon has kept the two versions of MapleStory largely separate: the only thing shared with the modern game is the NX balance, so Classic World stands as its own economy and community.

Nexon America’s Hanbyeol Oh, known to the community as Inkwell, has framed the project as something other than a one-to-one recreation of the game from 20 years ago — a classic world rebuilt for the players who grew up with it, rather than a museum piece.

Classic launches have become a reliable draw across the MMO genre, and MapleStory carries more nostalgia than most. With a level cap, job structure and social pace modeled on the era that made the game a phenomenon, Classic World is Nexon’s play to bring its lapsed audience home.
