ARC Raiders’ Frozen Trail Update Brings Pendola Pass and a Boardable Frigate on October 8

Embark Studios has detailed Frozen Trail, the 2.0 update for its multiplayer extraction shooter ARC Raiders — the game’s biggest update since launch — arriving October 8 as a free update on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and NVIDIA GeForce NOW. A free-play weekend runs alongside it, opening the full game on Steam, PlayStation and Xbox from October 8 to October 12.

The centerpiece is Pendola Pass, a new map at the northern edge of the Rust Belt: a harsh mountain region built around an old Italian village and Exodus transport hub, with flash freezes rolling through as a map condition. A massive fallen Emperor — one of the largest ARC machines — lies in the snow for Raiders to explore, and the ARC have sent a Frigate, one of their largest vessels, to patrol the area. Raiders can find a way aboard, fight through its passageways and hold it against ARC and rival squads alike.

Three new ARC enemies join the fight: the Bully, an aggressive close-range brute; the Skulker, which waits at the edge of vision to ambush; and the Hydra, a three-part turret stationed on the Frigate.

Progression expands on several fronts. Outposts give each Raider a personal base outside Speranza that can be furnished and upgraded. Amplified Weapons add a fifth quality tier with branching upgrades for 15 guns, joined by two new firearms — the Stiletto battle rifle and the Bantam snub revolver — plus a Grappling Hook and new gadgets. A 60-level Reward Pass with free and premium tracks replaces the Raider Decks.

Frozen Trail lands at the game’s first anniversary, with more than 16 million copies sold in its first year — a remarkable run for a new extraction IP, and a strong base for Embark’s twice-a-year major update cadence.

THE FINALS Season 12 “PRIME TIME” Rebuilds Destruction and Adds Solo Showdown

Published

THE FINALS has always sold itself on destruction, and Season 12 rebuilds the whole system. “PRIME TIME,” live now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, is the free-to-play game show shooter’s largest update since its 2023 launch, headlined by Gradual Destruction: buildings now bend, sag and partially collapse under damage instead of shattering on cue, while Blast Waves displace objects and deform walls, and smoke and toxic gas have been reworked to interact with the geometry they move through.

The season’s new mode is Solo Showdown, launching in beta as the game’s first dedicated solo tournament. Twelve contestants play three rounds drawn from eight rotating mini-modes — Blast Off!, Heavy Hitters, Boom Brawl, Slam-A-Rama, Sniper Standoff, Winch Wars, Turbo Tussle and One and Gunned — with the four lowest scorers eliminated after each of the first two rounds.

The game show itself gets smarter with Dynamic Commentary, also in beta: announcer Scotty now calls contestants out by name for standout plays such as team wipes and revive streaks, turning the broadcast layer into part of the reward.

Light players get a full new playstyle, the Infiltrator. True Sight reveals opponents through smoke, the Mimic Device disguises a contestant as an object, and the Translocator swaps the player’s position with a marked object. Balance shifts around it: Light builds gain 25 health and Heavy builds lose 25, compressing the gap between the outer classes.

Three arenas — Monaco, Seoul and Skyway Stadium — have been remastered, the HUD and Side Panel redesigned, and sponsor rewards rebuilt around Contracts; the VR currency has been removed entirely. A Frights Galore Halloween wheel covers the seasonal beat.

Three years in, Embark is not coasting on THE FINALS’ formula — PRIME TIME re-engineers the thing the game is famous for, and bets that better destruction keeps the show on air.
