Everlast: Undying Tale Brings Old-School MMO Adventure to Steam Early Access
Everlast: Undying Tale, the debut game from independent studio InSpades, has launched into Steam Early Access, offering a modern take on the classic MMO formula in a world players can run for themselves. The game is priced at $24.99, with a 20 percent launch discount bringing it to $19.99, and is available for Windows and macOS.
Players can adventure completely solo, privately with a few friends, or on public servers hosting up to 100 players, and each server is its own persistent world. Characters can move between servers where the host allows it, and a server browser with live player counts and ping helps players find the world that suits them. InSpades describes the goal as modernizing the classic MMO systems the studio grew up on.
There are no classes. Progression is skill-based: abilities improve by being used, so a character develops naturally out of how its owner actually plays, whether that is fighting, crafting, trading or exploring. The classic toolkit is all here, including trading between players, duels with items at stake, and castle sieges.
The game’s most distinctive idea is its Desolate Zones, server-wide repair projects. Fixing one permanently rebuilds part of that server’s world, adding gathering spots, crafting services or easier travel routes. On a busy public server it becomes a shared town project that the whole community works toward; for a solo player, it is a long-term goal that visibly changes the world.
Everlast arrives in Early Access following a demo run during Steam Next Fest, which ended October 26, that let players sample the opening systems. The Early Access release is English-only at launch, with minimum PC requirements of 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060 or RX 580 graphics card and 20 GB of storage. For players who miss the MMOs of an earlier era, but want one that fits on a friend’s server, Everlast: Undying Tale is aiming directly at them.

MapleStory Classic World Launches, Bringing the Classic Era Back to PC and Mac
The old Maple World is open again. Nexon has officially launched MapleStory Classic World, a dedicated version of its long-running MMORPG built around the game’s classic era, with the servers opening October 21 at 11:00 AM PDT on the Nexon Launcher and Steam for Windows and macOS.
The launch follows a Founder’s Access period that began October 6. Founder’s packages went off sale on October 14, and progress made during early access carries into the full launch, so returning players keep the head start they built.
Classic World launches at version 1.0.0 with the structure longtime players remember. Characters choose from four first-job paths — Warrior, Magician, Bowman and Thief — at level 10, and the level cap sits at 100. There is no 3rd Job Advancement at launch; Nexon plans to add it gradually, pacing the rollout rather than dropping two decades of content at once.
The game is free to play, supported by a Cash Shop, with Leaf Points as its currency. Nexon has kept the two versions of MapleStory largely separate: the only thing shared with the modern game is the NX balance, so Classic World stands as its own economy and community.
Nexon America’s Hanbyeol Oh, known to the community as Inkwell, has framed the project as something other than a one-to-one recreation of the game from 20 years ago — a classic world rebuilt for the players who grew up with it, rather than a museum piece.
Classic launches have become a reliable draw across the MMO genre, and MapleStory carries more nostalgia than most. With a level cap, job structure and social pace modeled on the era that made the game a phenomenon, Classic World is Nexon’s play to bring its lapsed audience home.
