The Las Vegas Raiders scored 17 of the final 20 points on Sunday and beat the New York Jets 38-33 at MetLife Stadium, snapping a four game losing streak behind a sharp afternoon from Kirk Cousins.

Cousins went 19 of 26 for 247 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions, and he ran for a 1 yard score in the third quarter. His favorite target was Brock Bowers, who caught 7 passes for 92 yards and two touchdowns, scoring from 12 yards in the first quarter and 2 yards in the third.

New York (2-6) scored on its first six possessions and led 23-14 at halftime. Geno Smith threw touchdown passes to Isaiah Williams and Adonai Mitchell, and Jason Sanders made four field goals. Dylan Laube swung the momentum in the second quarter with a 95 yard kickoff return touchdown, the first kickoff return score in the NFL this season.

Las Vegas (4-4) took the lead for good with 11:33 left when Cousins hit Jalen Nailor for a 2 yard touchdown, a drive kept alive by Ashton Jeanty’s 45 yard catch and run on a screen pass. Sanders pulled the Jets within 35-33 with his fourth field goal, but Matt Gay answered with a 53 yarder with 27 seconds left. Smith’s final heave into the end zone was intercepted by Jeremy Chinn to seal it.

Smith finished 20 of 32 for 290 yards with two touchdowns and the one late interception. Braelon Allen ran for a career high 147 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, and Mitchell set a career high with 142 receiving yards and a score on 7 catches. Garrett Wilson added 6 catches for 83 yards. Mike Washington Jr. led the Raiders on the ground with 83 yards on 25 carries, while Jeanty was held to 9 rushing yards but made the game’s biggest catch. The loss was the third straight for the Jets.

The Denver Broncos scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and finished the job with a goal line stand in the final seconds, beating the Kansas City Chiefs 28-24 on Sunday at Empower Field at Mile High to take over first place in the AFC West.

Kansas City (5-2) led most of the day. Patrick Mahomes threw an 11 yard touchdown pass to Rashee Rice in the first quarter, a 73 yard touchdown to running back Emmett Johnson in the second, and a 4 yard score to Noah Gray in the third quarter for a 24-13 lead. Denver (6-2) stayed close behind Wil Lutz field goals of 39 and 45 yards and a 1 yard touchdown pass from Bo Nix to Jaylen Waddle on fourth down late in the first half, and Kansas City took a 17-13 lead into halftime on a 45 yard Harrison Butker field goal in the final minute of the second quarter.

The Broncos went three and out three straight times to open the second half, then drove 80 yards in nine plays. Nix hit Nate Adkins for a 2 yard touchdown on fourth and goal with 8:55 left, and Waddle caught the two point conversion to pull Denver within 24-21.

After Butker missed a field goal try, Nix found rookie Jonah Coleman for 51 yards down to the 5 yard line, and Coleman ran it in on the next play just after the two minute warning to give Denver its first lead since the first quarter. Coleman finished as the Broncos’ top rusher and top receiver, running for 41 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries and catching 4 passes for 63 yards.

Kansas City had one last chance and nearly took it. Mahomes hit Travis Kelce for 32 yards and Kenneth Walker carried the Chiefs down to the 1 yard line. But Mahomes threw incomplete on second down, Walker was stopped for no gain on third down, a false start pushed Kansas City back, and Malcolm Roach sacked Mahomes on fourth down as time expired. Mahomes finished 30 of 41 for 321 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Johnson caught 5 passes for 128 yards for the Chiefs, and Walker ran for 69 yards on 21 carries. Nix went 20 of 32 for 222 yards and two touchdowns for the Broncos, and neither team committed a turnover all afternoon.
