The Last Stand is back. Deep Silver and KING Art Games have unveiled the horde survival mode for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV in a 30 minute Battlefield Report, ahead of the game’s December 3 launch, with three players standing together against 20 waves of enemies.

The ultimate test of your mettle as a commander is back in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV with The Last Stand horde mode. Get your first look in this epic 30-minute Battlefield Report ahead of the game’s launch on Dec. 3, 2026.

You and two friends will pick your Commanders and build up your elite Strikeforce of Champions to withstand 20 waves of ruthless enemies as you level up, collect resources, unlock skills, and do whatever it takes to survive. Are you ready to take your last stand?

Deep Silver and KING Art Games today unveiled The Last Stand, the horde survival mode making its long-awaited return in Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV.

True to its origins, The Last Stand sees three players team up as powerful Commanders to survive 20 increasingly challenging waves of enemies. Each Commander can gain up to 30 levels in a playthrough, unlocking dozens of skills and equipment to add to their total power.

New in Dawn of War IV, each Commander leads a Strikeforce of up to four Companion units with their own specializations to unlock, introducing greater strategic flexibility and new tactical combinations. Players must balance speed, survival, and control of key positions across the battlefield while collecting valuable health supplies between waves. More units, more wargear, more skills, more ways to battle in this ultimate gauntlet.

The Last Stand will launch with five Commanders to choose from, representing all four factions, including both Blood Ravens and Dark Angels Space Marine Chapters, with more arriving post-launch as free DLC.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV launches on Dec. 3, 2026, with Commander Edition players deploying on Nov. 30 through a 3-Day Early Unlock. Both editions are available to pre-order now with a 10% discount. The war will continue long after launch. Year One includes free updates featuring the return of Crusade Mode, new maps, modes, Commanders, and the Mission Editor, alongside two major story expansions that will deepen the conflict on Kronus and introduce a new playable faction to the battlefield.
