Brookwood at Berkmar: Broncos Take a 7-1 Record on the Road in Gwinnett

Brookwood goes to Berkmar on Friday night for a Gwinnett County region game, and the Broncos carry one of the county’s strongest records into the trip.

MaxPreps lists Brookwood at 7-1 and Berkmar at 0-9 for October 30. That is a wide gap, and it puts the responsibility squarely on Brookwood to show up focused. Good teams handle business on the road against a winless opponent. Careless teams let a home side hang around, gain confidence, and turn a routine night into a fight.

Berkmar’s opportunity is in that exact space. The home team has nothing to lose, and a fast start would change the energy in the stadium. A stop on the first series, a long drive, or a turnover can make a favorite start pressing. Berkmar does not need a perfect night. It needs a competitive first half.

For Brookwood, the standard is execution: start fast, protect the football, and do not extend drives with mistakes. Brookwood at Berkmar kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Lilburn.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
