Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Mundy’s Mill at Drew: Tigers Make the Clayton County Trip on Friday Night

Mundy’s Mill visits Drew on Friday night in Riverdale, in a Clayton County region game between two programs separated by a short drive and a long familiarity.

Drew is at home, and its most recent listed result was a good one: a 22-15 win over Eastside on October 22, per MaxPreps. Close wins build a specific kind of confidence. A team that has finished a tight game knows how to handle the fourth quarter, and Drew will carry that into Friday night in front of its own crowd.

Mundy’s Mill’s task is to take that home comfort away early. The Tigers need a strong opening, sound tackling, and an offense that can stay on the field. On the road in a county region game, long drives are gold. They rest the defense, quiet the crowd, and keep the score in a place where one play can flip the night.

For Drew, the formula is to play like the home team in form: start with energy, protect the lead if it gets one, and close. Mundy’s Mill at Drew kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
