Columbia at Redan: Eagles Take a 6-2 Mark on the Road to Face the Raiders

Columbia goes to Redan on Friday night for a DeKalb County region matchup, with the Eagles bringing the stronger record into Stone Mountain.

MaxPreps lists Columbia at 6-2 and Redan at 1-7 for this October 30 meeting, and on paper that gap is real. Columbia has put together the better season, and a road favorite still has to prove it again under the lights. The Eagles cannot treat the trip as a formality. Region road games have a way of tightening up when the home team plays loose and early breaks go the wrong way.

Redan’s chance starts with belief and a fast opening. The Raiders are at home, they know Columbia is favored, and they have nothing to protect. A defense that forces a punt or a turnover early can turn a long night into a competitive one, and a home crowd will respond if the Raiders give it a reason.

For Columbia, the formula is discipline: protect the football, control the line of scrimmage, and finish drives. Columbia at Redan kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
