Westminster at Douglass: Wildcats and Astros Meet at Lakewood Stadium on Friday Night

Westminster visits Douglass on Friday night at Lakewood Stadium, in the latest kickoff on the Atlanta slate at 8:00 p.m.

MaxPreps lists Douglass at 6-2 and Westminster at 3-5 for this region meeting. The Astros have put together the stronger season, and at home they will look to play from in front. Douglass beat Pace Academy 50-19 in its most recent listed game, a result MaxPreps reported, with the Astros improving to 6-2. That is a home team in form.

Westminster enters off a 55-0 league loss to Stephenson, per the same MaxPreps report, and the Wildcats’ response is the story of their night. A team can fold after a result like that, or it can tackle better, protect the ball, and make the favorite work. Westminster needs the second version, and it needs it from the opening drive.

For Douglass, the standard is to keep playing the football that built its record, without giving a wounded opponent life. Westminster at Douglass kicks off Friday, October 30 at 8:00 p.m. at Lakewood Stadium.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
