Jesuit at Tampa Catholic: Crosstown Rivals Close Regular Season Friday Night

Jesuit makes the short trip across Tampa to face Tampa Catholic on Friday night in one of the city’s oldest and most closely watched rivalries, closing the regular season at Tampa Catholic. Jesuit enters at 7-1 and Tampa Catholic at 7-2, according to MaxPreps, so both teams arrive with winning records and postseason play ahead. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.

Jesuit comes in off a 45-21 win at Hillsborough on October 23, a result that ended Hillsborough’s winning streak. Tampa Catholic, playing at home, will look to protect its field in the finale and carry momentum into November. With two Tampa programs that know each other well, the early possessions matter: establish the run, avoid turnovers, and do not give the other sideline a short field.

This is the final full week of the Florida regular season, as noted in statewide Week 11 coverage, so Friday is also a last chance to clean up timing and special teams before the playoffs. Expect a physical, four-quarter game between two teams that expect to play beyond this week.

Armwood closes the regular season at home in Seffner on Friday night against Jefferson, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. Armwood enters at 8-1 and Jefferson at 4-5, according to MaxPreps. High School On SI’s October 28 Florida rankings listed Armwood at No. 14 in the state and also had the Hawks at 8-1 heading into this game.

Armwood comes in off a 62-0 win over Leto last week. In that game, junior Rondai Dile completed 7 of 8 passes for 185 yards and four touchdowns, according to High School On SI. Jefferson, at 4-5, needs a complete game on the road: sustain drives, limit Armwood’s explosive plays, and win the turnover battle to keep the finale close into the second half.

For Armwood, Friday is about finishing the regular season cleanly at home before the playoffs. For Jefferson, it is a chance to measure itself against one of Florida’s ranked teams. The Hawks will try to set the tempo early, while the Dragons will try to slow the game and make every possession count.
