Marietta at Wheeler: Blue Devils and Wildcats Meet Friday Night in Cobb County

Marietta at Wheeler is as local as Friday night gets in Cobb County. Both schools are in Marietta, the trip is short, and the region game still carries the full weight of a road test for the Blue Devils.

Wheeler is at home and needs a response. The Wildcats’ most recent listed result was a 56-14 loss to North Cobb on October 23, per MaxPreps. A team coming off a night like that has two choices, and Wheeler’s players know which one they need. Defending home field against a city rival is the right kind of motivation, and a fast start would go a long way toward wiping out last week.

Marietta cannot count on Wheeler staying down. The Blue Devils need to play a clean road game: protect the ball, win on special teams, and make Wheeler earn its points over long drives. If Marietta lets the home team score early and build belief, a short trip can turn into a long night.

Expect an emotional first quarter and a game settled by discipline. Marietta at Wheeler kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
