Phantom Gear Brings Its Armored Action Platforming to PC on November 11

Phantom Gear, the side-scrolling action platformer from developer Bits Rule Games and publishers Mega Cat Studios and 8 Bit Legit, launches on PC on November 11. A free demo is available now on Steam for players who want an early look at the fight ahead, and the full game arrives with all of its weapons, upgrades and boss battles included.

Players take control of Josephine, a heroine who climbs into advanced battle armor to take on the sinister Ocular Force. Armed and armored, she runs, jumps and blasts her way through side-scrolling stages built in the classic action platformer style, where every screen asks for quick reflexes and quicker decisions.

The world Josephine fights through has been overrun by the Ocular Force, and each stage pushes deeper into enemy territory. Ruined landscapes and futuristic strongholds form the backdrop for a campaign that never lets the pressure drop for long.

Progression is permanent rather than per-life. Upgrades earned along the way stay with Josephine for good, steadily expanding what her armor can do, and multiple weapons give players real options for different enemies and different situations as the stages grow tougher and the enemies hit harder.

Massive boss fights cap off the action, testing everything players have unlocked and every weapon they have collected. Between those showdowns, the stages mix precision platforming and run-and-gun combat in the tradition of the genre’s 16-bit favorites, with a modern layer of permanent progression layered on top.

Mega Cat Studios and 8 Bit Legit both specialize in retro-inspired games, and Phantom Gear fits that mold, pairing chunky pixel art with modern progression systems. Players can sample the free Steam demo today ahead of the full PC launch on November 11.

Beyond the Mist Brings Its Cursed Lighthouse Horror to Steam, Switch Version on November 19

Beyond the Mist, the horror adventure from developer Yliader and publisher RAWRLAB Games, is out now on Steam. The game launched on October 31 priced at $5.99, with an introductory discount of 40 percent bringing it to $3.59 until November 7, and a Nintendo Switch version follows on November 19.

Players take the role of Arthur Webb, an aging lighthouse keeper trapped inside a cursed lighthouse. With the light failing and the mist closing in, Arthur has to find a way out of a place that no longer obeys the rules of the world outside.

Escape means searching the lighthouse room by room for items and clues, solving puzzles and making key decisions along the way. Those decisions matter: the story can end in three different ways, and not all of them lead Arthur safely out of the mist, so every choice is worth thinking about before it is made.

The game is a reimagining of the Game Boy title The Mist, rebuilt as a modern horror adventure while keeping the spirit of the original intact. Its 8-bit-style soundtrack, composed by Gjoll, leans into that heritage, wrapping the lighthouse in chiptune dread that suits its pixel-art presentation.

For horror fans, the Halloween launch was well timed, and the low price makes it an easy recommendation for a single evening’s play. The Switch release on November 19 means handheld players get their turn inside the lighthouse just a few weeks later.

Short, focused and built around atmosphere rather than jump scares, Beyond the Mist is a compact horror story for players who like their scares slow and strange. It is available now on PC via Steam, with the Nintendo Switch version arriving on November 19.
