Miller Grove at Cedar Grove: Wolverines Go on the Road for a DeKalb Region Night

Miller Grove travels to Cedar Grove on Friday night for a DeKalb County region game, and both teams come in needing a result they can carry forward.

MaxPreps lists Miller Grove at 4-4 and Cedar Grove at 1-7 heading into October 30. That makes the Wolverines the team with more to lose. A .500 team on the road cannot afford to play down to a record, especially in a region game where the home side knows it well. Miller Grove needs a steady start, clean execution, and no free possessions given away.

Cedar Grove, at home, should play like a team with nothing held back. The Saints’ record does not change the fact that this is a familiar opponent in a familiar setting. If Cedar Grove can win early downs, keep the game close into the second half, and make Miller Grove drive the full field, the pressure shifts to the visitors.

Late-season region nights are rarely pretty, and this one likely turns on turnovers and field position. Miller Grove at Cedar Grove kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:00 p.m.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
