Milton at Riverwood: Eagles Visit Riverwood With a Region Race Still in Reach

Milton visits Riverwood on Friday night in Fulton County, and the Eagles arrive off one of the wildest wins in Georgia this season.

High School On SI reported Milton erased a deficit at Gainesville and won 49-46 when Ryan Jung hit a 47-yard field goal with 58 seconds left. That kind of win tells you a team can handle pressure, score in bunches, and finish. It also sets up the trap in this game. Milton still has Roswell waiting in its finale, with the region title still within reach, per High School On SI. Looking ahead would be a mistake.

Riverwood is at home, and Roswell beat Riverwood 62-0 in its most recent listed result, which makes this a pride game as much as anything. A home team coming off a result like that has one goal on Friday: compete hard, from the first snap, and make a ranked visitor earn every yard.

Milton’s task is professional focus. Start fast, avoid the emotional letdown, and handle business. Milton at Riverwood kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
