Benjamin at Saint Andrew’s: Buccaneers Visit Scots in Boca Raton Finale

Benjamin visits Saint Andrew’s on Friday night to close the regular season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., according to the Benjamin schedule on MaxPreps.

MaxPreps lists Benjamin at 3-5 and Saint Andrew’s at 5-4 on its Florida schedule page for Friday, Oct. 30. Benjamin’s own schedule lists the same game as at Saint Andrew’s on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., with a Preview Game designation. The Palm Beach Post picks page also lists Benjamin (3-5) at St. Andrew’s (5-4) on Friday at 7 p.m.

Saint Andrew’s enters with the winning record and home field, and a chance to finish with six wins. Benjamin enters with three wins and a chance to close with a road win over a winning private school opponent in Boca Raton.

The Post picks page leaned toward Benjamin despite the records, with most of its staff pickers selecting Benjamin and the audience poll favoring Benjamin at 51 percent. That split is a reminder that a finale between familiar Palm Beach County private school programs does not always follow the records.

No venue beyond the home school, district stake or player statistics were stated for this matchup in the sources checked, so none are included here. What is verified is the date, time, teams and records for a 7 p.m. Friday kickoff.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
