Point and click fans can step back into the 90s today, floppy disks not included.

Daedalic Entertainment and Three Headed Monkey Studios have released a free Steam demo for Ghost Haunting as part of the current Steam Point & Click Showcase. The 2D point-and-click adventure captures the spirit of the LucasArts classics with hand-crafted pixel art, dark humor and a heroine, Gigi, whose approach to problem-solving rarely leaves the furniture intact. The demo features English and German voice acting, and text localization in all 12 languages.

When Gigi discovers that her grumpy grandpa Giovanni is a legendary ghost hunter, she reaches a perfectly reasonable conclusion: if ghosts can visit the living, she can visit the dead and bring Grandma home. A talking pumpkin demon called Baron Butt(er)nut is willing to help. Getting Grandpa’s permission is not currently a priority.

The full adventure pairs classic puzzles with modern comforts like a hint system, a score system, hotspot highlighting and fast travel. The team at Three Headed Monkey Studios said: “The demo is meant to feel like rediscovering a long-forgotten adventure game from the 90s. Except without the floppy disks. Instead, it blends modern gameplay features with the core of classic point-and-click games: Talking to quirky characters, combining ridiculous items and that leap of joy when a puzzle (finally) clicks into place. We hope you have a great time! Gigi certainly will.”

The free demo will remain available after the showcase. Ghost Haunting launches in 2027 on PC, Mac, Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2.

The game can be played solo or with up to two friends in local or online co-op, with crossplay between Steam and Itch.io.

Gear Up Einstein! is available now on Steam for £11.59 / $14.79 / €13.59, with a 15% launch discount running for the first two weeks, through November 20.
