McArthur at Western: Mustangs Visit 7-2 Wildcats in Davie

McArthur visits Western on Friday night to close the regular season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., according to the MaxPreps Florida schedule page for Friday, Oct. 30.

MaxPreps lists Western at 7-2 on that schedule page, with McArthur as the visiting team and Western as the home team. The Wildcats enter the finale with one of the stronger records among Broward County public school programs in Week 11, and they get to defend it at home.

For McArthur, the trip is a final-week test against a seven-win team. A road win in a finale like this carries weight no matter what the earlier weeks looked like, because it comes against a team that has handled most of its schedule.

No venue beyond the home school, district stake or player statistics were stated for this matchup in the schedule source checked, so none are included here, and no record for McArthur is stated in this package because the MaxPreps schedule snippets checked gave conflicting figures for the Mustangs. What is verified is the date, the 7 p.m. start, the home and away teams and Western’s 7-2 record as published by MaxPreps for Oct. 30.

Western will look to close with an eighth win. McArthur will look to spoil that finish on the road. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Friday in Davie.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
