Piper at Cardinal Gibbons: Bengals Visit Chiefs at Dr. Bud Tight Field

Piper visits Cardinal Gibbons on Friday night to close the regular season in Fort Lauderdale. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., according to the Cardinal Gibbons schedule on MaxPreps.

MaxPreps lists Piper at 5-4 and Cardinal Gibbons at 6-3 on its Florida schedule page for Friday, Oct. 30. Florida Gridiron Preps lists the Gibbons home field as Dr. Bud Tight Field in Fort Lauderdale for its Oct. 30 home game.

Gibbons enters trying to bounce back. The Chiefs lost 41-6 to Chaminade-Madonna on Oct. 22, a result listed on their MaxPreps schedule. A South Florida Top 20 breakdown published Oct. 29 said three lost fumbles contributed to that loss, which snapped a four-game Gibbons winning streak, and noted Ryan Mackie’s two field goals and Damien Darling’s interception were bright spots for the Chiefs.

Piper arrives at 5-4 with a chance to finish with six wins and to do it on the road against a team with a winning record. Gibbons, at home, has the chance to restore momentum before the postseason after the Chaminade-Madonna loss.

The Palm Beach Post also listed Piper at Cardinal Gibbons among its other top games to watch on Friday, Oct. 30. It is a fitting finale for both Broward programs, with a winning finish on the line for each side.

Riverdale at Mt. Zion: Raiders Visit the Bulldogs in a Clayton County Region Game

Riverdale travels to Mt. Zion on Friday night in Jonesboro, closing the Clayton County slate with a region game between two familiar opponents.

The Raiders go on the road knowing county games are rarely decided by reputation. Riverdale’s schedule shows a 51-8 loss to North Clayton earlier in October, the kind of result that tests a team’s response over the rest of a season. Friday is another chance to answer, and it has to start with the basics: block, tackle, and protect the football in a hostile building.

Mt. Zion, at home, controls the setting. The Bulldogs get the crowd, the routine, and the chance to make Riverdale play from behind. A home team in a region game wants exactly that script: score first, make the visitor chase, and let the defense play aggressive with a lead.

If Riverdale can survive the first quarter and turn this into a possession game, the Raiders give themselves a real chance on the road. If Mt. Zion starts fast, the home side will be hard to pull back. Riverdale at Mt. Zion kicks off Friday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m.
